Killer Robot Rabbits Vs Invasive Burmese Pythons
The latest tool in Florida’s battle for control of the Everglades.
(The bunnies aren't actually killers, they draw the python in and the killers are called in.)
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — They look, move and even smell like the kind of furry Everglades marsh rabbit a Burmese python would love to eat. But these bunnies are robots meant to lure the giant invasive snakes out of their hiding spots.
It's the latest effort by the South Florida Water Management District to eliminate as many pythons as possible from the Everglades, where they are decimating native species with their voracious appetites. In Everglades National Park, officials say the snakes have eliminated 95% of small mammals as well as thousands of birds.
The water district and University of Florida researchers deployed 120 robot rabbits this summer as an experiment. Previously, there was an effort to use live rabbits as snake lures but that became too expensive and time-consuming, Kirkland said.
The robots are simple toy rabbits, but retrofitted to emit heat, a smell and to make natural movements to appear like any other regular rabbit. “They look like a real rabbit,” Kirkland said.. They are solar powered and can be switched on and off remotely. They are placed in small pens monitored by a video camera that sends out a signal when a python is nearby.
The total cost per robot rabbit is about $4,000, financed by the water district, he added.
Pythons are not native to Florida, but have become established in the swampy, subtropical Everglades by escaping from homes or by people releasing them when they become overgrown pets. A female python can lay between 50 and 100 eggs at a time with a gestation period of 60-90 days, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
It's not easy to find definite estimates of the number of pythons in Florida. The U.S. Geological Survey recently reported a ballpark number of “tens of thousands,” while other official estimates run as high as 300,000 snakes. They have few natural enemies, although there are occasional confrontations with alligators, and other predators, such as bobcats and coyotes, will eat their eggs.
Since 2000, more than 23,000 of the snakes have been removed from the wild, the wildlife commission says. The robot rabbits are the latest attempt to tackle snakes that average between 10 and 16 feet (3 to 5 meters) in length when fully grown.
“Every invasive python that is removed makes a difference for Florida's environment and its native wildlife,” said Ron Bergeron, a member of the water district governing board.
Pythons can be humanely killed year-round on private lands and on lands managed by the wildlife commission across the state.
Each year the commission holds a “Florida Python Challenge” that carries cash prizes for most pythons caught, the longest snake and so forth. This year, 934 people from 30 states took part in the effort in July, capturing 294 pythons with a top prize of $10,000 to a participant who bagged 60 of the reptiles.
It's too early to determine how successful the robot rabbit project will be, but officials say initial results are a cause for optimism.
“This part of the project is in its infancy,” Kirkland said. “We are confident, though, that this will work once we are given enough time to work out some of these details.”

Florida Judge Denies Bond For Illegal Immigrant Indian Trucker
A Florida judge on Saturday denied bond to Harjinder Singh, an illegal migrant trucker from India accused of causing a deadly crash in Fort Pierce that killed three people.
St. Lucie County Judge Lauren Sweet ruled that Singh is an unauthorized alien and a substantial flight risk.
Sweet also found probable cause for all six charges against Singh and classified them as forcible felonies under Florida law.
"There are no conditions of release that will ensure your appearance at trial," Sweet said. "Therefore, sir, I’m setting your bond on each charge at no bond."
Singh, who appeared virtually from the St. Lucie County Jail with the help of an interpreter, was arrested on two warrants charging him with three counts of vehicular homicide and three counts of manslaughter for the deadly Aug. 12 crash.
Investigators say Singh attempted an illegal U-turn in his semitruck, causing his truck to jackknife, blocking the northbound lanes of the Florida Turnpike. A minivan then slammed into the trailer, killing all three people inside.
Sweet said that both arrest warrant affidavits were previously reviewed by a judge. Each judge found probable cause at that time for each of the six charges.
"This court finds there is probable cause to believe you committed a forcible felony for all six charges," Sweet said.
Singh hesitated when asked if he wanted an attorney before Sweet provisionally appointed the public defender’s office to represent him.
Singh was arrested in Stockton, California, last week and extradited to Florida.
Singh, who crossed into the United States illegally in 2018 via the southern border, obtained a commercial driver's license in California. He attempted to obtain work authorization, but it was rejected by the first Trump administration Sept. 14, 2020, according to Tricia McLaughlin, Homeland Security assistant secretary for public affairs.
Florida Weigh Stations Will Now Also Function As (CDL) Immigration Checkpoints
Today, Florida’s Attorney General is going to announce that all the trucking weigh stations in the state of Florida will now serve as immigration checkpoints.

DeSantis Responds To Liberal Activist Judge's Decision On Alligator Alcatraz
As we reported, an Obama appointee, U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams, issued an order stopping the expansion of the illegal alien detention center known as "Alligator Alcatraz" and bringing in any new detainees. The main argument against the facility appeared to be environmental.
Within 60 days, “and once the population attrition allows for safe implementation of this Order,” the facility must also remove “all generators, gas, sewage, and other waste and waste receptacles that were installed to support this project,” the 82-page ruling said.
Florida immediately filed an appeal.
A spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security, Tricia McLaughlin, said in a statement that the ruling "ignores the fact that this land has already been developed for a decade. It is another attempt to prevent the President from fulfilling the American people’s mandate to remove the worst of the worst including gang members, murderers, pedophiles, terrorists, and rapists from our country."
"This activist judge doesn’t care about the invasion of our country facilitated by the Biden administration, but the American people do," McLaughlin said. "We have the law, the facts, and common sense on our side.”
However, as our sister site Twitchy reported, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis stood strong, saying that they would continue to carry out their mission. He said the ruling was not unexpected, and he termed the judge an "activist judge," and said the decision was "pre-ordained."

"We’re not going to be deterred. We’re totally in the right on this. But I would also note, because of the success of Alligator Alcatraz, there’s demand for more,” DeSantis said. He explained how they were going to be opening another facility right outside of Jacksonville...and we call that the 'Deportation Depot.'
We'll have to see how the Florida appeal goes, but they already have the additional option coming, with the new facility near Jacksonville.
We have previously reported on how they would be opening that facility, as well as that such facilities are being considered in other states. So whatever happens in the particular case of Alligator Alcatraz 1.0, it appears to be spawning many other children.
DeSantis is continuing to take action on illegal aliens, launching another operation in the Florida Panhandle.
So operations will continue.

INSANITY IN FLORIDA - BAN ON HO’s
(Oh wait … wait … I read that wrong. Never mind.)
Florida Lawmaker Floats Ban On HOA's
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — A South Florida lawmaker says it may be time to do away with homeowners associations altogether, as more Floridians speak out about rising fees, costly lawsuits, and even arrests tied to HOA disputes.
Rep. Juan Carlos Porras (R-Miami) said this week that he is considering filing legislation in the next session that would abolish HOAs statewide.
“You know, it might just be time we take a look if HOAs are really even necessary,” Porras said. “Maybe we should just do away with homeowner associations as a whole.”
The lawmaker, who has been working on HOA reform bills for the last two years, said he’s heard enough from frustrated homeowners to question whether the system still makes sense.
“In Miami-Dade County, where I live, it’s just a bunch of houses. The HOA doesn’t really maintain anything other than the grass in some areas,” Porras said. “And yet, you’re being charged $500, $600 plus a month. In reality, you don’t see a lot of that money going back to your community.”
Porras called HOAs a “failed experiment” that, after decades of abuse and mismanagement, “does more harm than good.”
Residents Speak Out:
His comments come as frustration with HOAs reaches a boiling point across the state.
In Tampa, residents of one of Hillsborough County’s largest HOA communities say their board spent hundreds of thousands of dollars fighting legal battles — including a years-long dispute over a single proxy ballot that ultimately failed in court. Homeowners told the Tampa Bay 28 I-Team that those legal costs were passed along in the form of higher dues and drained reserve funds.
Palm Beach County residents are also feeling the squeeze. At the Sandalwood Lakes neighborhood, monthly HOA fees hover around $605 — with some units paying nearly $700. One longtime resident said she nearly lost her home after fees spiked while she was out of work due to illness.
“I understand that it’s a business, I understand that the business is to make sure the properties are maintained,” said homeowner Sharon Siebert. “But at the same time, when you’ve been here a long time and always maintained your property, it’s difficult when you find yourself in a tough situation and there’s no help.”
Extreme Enforcement:
In Riverview, HOA disputes escalated into arrests and foreclosure threats. One homeowner was jailed for a week over brown grass, while another faced a lien and thousands in legal fees tied to her house paint.
The stories have struck a nerve: more than 1 million people have watched coverage of the cases online, and thousands have left comments saying they would rather “live under a bridge than under an HOA.”
What’s Next:
Roughly 9.5 million Floridians — nearly half the state’s population — live in HOA communities, making any proposal to abolish them a massive political and legal undertaking.
Porras acknowledged condominiums, with shared roofs and common areas, present a more complicated case. But he said single-family HOAs in particular have lost their purpose.
“It was a failed experiment, to be quite honest,” Porras said. “That’s something I would say to look forward to for the next session.”
Whether the idea gains traction in the Republican-controlled legislature remains to be seen. So far, Governor Ron DeSantis has not weighed in.

Illegal Invader Truck Driver Makes Illegal U-turn On Florida Interstate, Kills 3 People
A truck driver in Fort Pierce, Florida made an insane illegal turn while driving on a busy highway and ended up killing three people.
The area the driver was using as for ‘official use only’ and he made the turn, crossing a busy lane to do it and one vehicle couldn’t stop and rammed right into and under the trailer of the big rig.
The driver is being charged with a homicide.
Here’s more from WPTV:
WPTV is learning more about a semi-truck crash that shut down the northbound lanes of the Florida Turnpike in Fort Pierce on Tuesday.
The Florida Highway Patrol is describing the wreck as a homicide investigation after three people were killed.
The crash led to the shutdown of all northbound lanes for several hours, causing significant traffic delays.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol’s crash report, a semi-truck was driving northbound in the right lane of the Turnpike as a Chrysler Town & Country minivan was traveling north in the Turnpike’s left lane.
From the right lane, the semi-truck attempted to make a U-turn at an “official use only” turn-around area near mile marker 171, crossing in front of the vehicle in the left lane.
The driver of the vehicle was unable to avoid the truck, wedging the minivan underneath the truck.
Witnesses and law enforcement observed tire marks at the scene where the semi attempted the illegal maneuver during the middle of the afternoon.
Two passengers inside the minivan, a 37-year-old woman from Pompano Beach and a 54-year-old man from Miami, died at the scene of the crash. The driver of the Chrysler, a 30-year-old man from Florida City, was flown to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
The driver of the semi and the passenger, both men in their 20s from California, did not sustain any injuries.
I’m glad they are making this a homicide investigation because he should absolutely be charged. As a commercial driver and a potentially heavy load in his trailer, he can’t be this stupid and get away with it.

Florida Under Water
Or it sure feels like it. The humidity is above 80% in the AM and it ranges between 85% and 95% for the next 8 days in the afternoon. It rains almost every day/afternoon and just feeds the humidity. The air gets so thick it's hard to breathe. It kicks my ass to walk to the truck.

Florida Woman Avenges Chicken Who Was Run Down While Crossing The Road
(Don't let Florida women fool you, they can get crazy too. Especially in the liberal enclaves of Key West. If the truth was known, this is NOT a native born Floridian, she's probably a Californian transplant.)
A Florida woman is behind bars for allegedly attacking another driver for running over a chicken in Key West as it attempted to cross the road.
As reported by Law and Crime on Tuesday, the suspect in the case was identified as 38 y/o Cynthia Diaz Sosa, who told officers of the Key West Police Department she had stopped her car and was "waiting to let a chicken cross the road” when the dastardly deed was done by another driver.
There was no mention on whether the other driver didn’t see the chicken, saw the chicken but failed to avoid it, or ran it down maliciously.
Sosa caught up with the chicken murderer and Sosa allegedly struggled to open the driver's door, and when she finally got it open, she attacked the driver and another person in the car by spraying both occupants with bear spray.
The arrest report read:
"She was stopped in traffic … waiting to let a chicken cross the road, when [the victim] began honking at her and later passed her, running over the chicken," cops say.
"Cynthia later followed her because she was angry that she killed the chicken. Cynthia later got out of her vehicle and approached [the victim's] driver's door, attempting to open it," the report alleges.
"They began fighting over the door. Cynthia wanted to 'teach her a lesson,' so she pulled out her bear mace and sprayed it into the vehicle, spraying Perla directly in the face while she was seated inside."
Sosa, 38, was charged with two counts of aggravated battery and one count of burglary with assault or battery in connection with the July 9 incident, according to the Key West Police Department.
CBS: In quirky Key West, Florida, it's not just tourists flocking to town, feral chickens have found their tropical paradise.
And Key West City Commissioner Clayton Lopez has got a beef. They're "everywhere," he says, with entire chicken families often seen crossing roads.
A resolution introduced by Lopez, which is now law, bans feeding chickens on public property.
"What I am looking to do is to try and address the health issues of humans, as well as the chickens," Lopez said.

Welcome To Florida ... Progressive Libtard ... (Chuckle)
A progressive zealot tried to disrupt the Turning Point USA Student Action Summit (SAS) event in Tampa, Florida Saturday but was met with overwhelming power and was forcibly detained.
This entitled wannabe tough guy gets what’s coming to him as he attempts to stop the flow of traffic and make what he probably hoped would become a viral scene.
Unfortunately for this guy, he picked the wrong state to pull off his antics. This is Florida, not crime-happy California, and now he’s facing something called “consequences”:

We’ve gotten so used to progressives thinking they can attack law enforcement, stop traffic and disrupt the normal flow of commerce and life without consequence. In places like California, Seattle, and Great Britain, that may be the norm, but not in the Sunshine State.

First Immigrant Detainees Arrive At Alligator Alcatraz In Ochopee, Florida
The first group of immigrant detainees has arrived at a new detention center in the Florida Everglades dubbed "Alligator Alcatraz," amid U.S. President Donald Trump's mass deportation efforts against illicit immigrants, local media reported Thursday.
"Detainees began arriving last night," Tricia McLaughlin, an assistant secretary at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, said in a statement, as cited by Columbia Broadcasting Corporation.
"We are working at turbo speed on cost-effective and innovative ways to deliver on the American people's mandate for mass deportations of criminal illegal aliens. We will expand facilities and bed space in just days, thanks to our partnership with Florida," added McLaughlin.
The facility was built in just eight days. Featuring more than 200 security cameras, 28,000-plus feet of barbed wire and 400 security personnel, it will have a capacity of about 3,000 detainees when fully operational, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said.
Environmental groups have filed a lawsuit to halt construction of the new immigrant detention facility, arguing that Florida officials and the federal government have trampled over environmental regulations in their rush to build the facility, the New York Times has reported.
Human rights advocates and Native American tribes have also protested against the center, arguing that the facility endangers the delicate Everglades ecosystem, subjects detainees to harsh conditions due to extreme heat and mosquito infestations, and occupies land that holds sacred significance for the tribes.
Workers install a sign reading "Alligator Alcatraz" at the entrance to the new "Alligator Alcatraz" facility at Dade-Collier Training and Transition facility in Ochopee, Florida, U.S., July 3, 2025.

Alligator Alcatraz - Tamiami Trail
Well, I guess 'Alligator Alcatraz' is supposed to be operational tomorrow, 7.1. Those of you that aren't from south Florida probably have no idea how isolated this place is. It's actually not as isolated as it was when I first started going down there to work on crab traps, during the off-season, back around 1976. But it's still in the middle of nowhere compared to either one of the coasts to the east or west. Construction began in 1968. It was originally intended to be the Everglades Jetport and it was originally scheduled to be the largest airport in the world at that time. Construction was halted in 1970 due to massive environmental objections and the failure of one of Boeing's proposed jet projects. The property still belongs to the local government and due to the one extra large runway it was named the Dade-Collier Training and Transition Airport and was used until recently as a landing/take-off training area for large jets.
The renovated facility is located just north of the Tamiami Trail, U.S. 41 and slightly closer to Miami but about halfway between Naples and Miami. Different people pronounce Tamiami differently, but people who are from that area and have lived there since before there was a Tamiami Trail, pronounce it as Tami (like the girls name) and ami (like the girls name without the T) (/ˈtæmiˌæmi/)
No, Alligator Alley and Tamiami Trail are not the same road. Both roads have gone through several confusing road designations but Alligator Alley is now I-75 and Tamiami Trail still goes by that name but is also U.S. 41.
Quiz: Can you correctly name the 3 reptiles shown below. We have all three in Florida, so it would be handy to know which one is tearing you apart if you wander into the wrong waterway.

Florida Attorney General Proposes “Alligator Alcatraz” Everglades, FL.
Hardcore Detention Center for Criminal Illegals, Surrounded by Alligators and Pythons (And Mosquitos)
In a fearless and practical move to shore up immigration enforcement, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier has pitched a novel concept to the Trump administration: a 39‑square‑mile detention site in the Everglades, slyly dubbed “Alligator Alcatraz.”
ICE currently holds around 53,000 migrants in facilities funded for just 41,500 beds, according to WLRN.
This “Alligator Alcatraz” could house up to 1,000 criminal illegal entrants, built in as little as 30–60 days, a swift addition to national security infrastructure.
Rather than costly walls or fences, natural barriers, alligators, pythons, dense swampland, secure the perimeter. According to Uthmeier, this creates a “low‑cost, efficient opportunity. “
“Alligator Alcatraz: the one-stop shop to carry out President Trump’s mass deportation agenda,” Uthmeier wrote on X.
Attorney General James Uthmeier: Attorney General James Uthmeier here at the Miami-Dade–Collier Training Facility. This is an old, virtually abandoned airport facility right in the middle of the Everglades. Florida has been leading on immigration enforcement, supporting the Trump administration and ICE’s efforts to detain and deport criminal aliens. The Governor tasked state leaders to identify places for new temporary detention facilities. I think this is the best one. I call it “Alligator Alcatraz.”
This 30-square-mile area is completely surrounded by the Everglades. It presents an efficient, low-cost opportunity to build a temporary detention facility because you don’t need to invest much in the perimeter. If people get out, there’s not much waiting for them other than alligators and pythons, nowhere to go, nowhere to hide.
Within just 30 to 60 days after we begin construction, it could be up and running and could house as many as a thousand criminal aliens. This presents a great opportunity for the state of Florida with Miami-Dade and Collier County’s “Alligator Alcatraz.” We’re ready to go.

Florida Governor DeSantis Coordinates Rescue Flights From Israel To Tampa
Evacuates 1,500 Jewish Americans.
Florida has the third-highest Jewish population, behind New York and California, according to reports – with an estimated 650,000, particularly in Miami Beach, Boca Raton and Fort Lauderdale.
As violence escalates in Israel during its conflict with Iran, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is dispatching four planes to evacuate 1,500 stranded Americans.
Mano Maritime cruise ship Crown Iris picked up the evacuees in Ashdod, Israel, and took them on a 13-hour steam trip to Lanarca, Cyprus. Most passengers were from a program called Birthright Israel, which provides educational trips to the Holy Land for young Americans of Jewish descent or creed.
Israeli airspace has been closed since the bombings from Iran began.
After the ship arrived in Lanarca under the protection of the Israeli navy, according to the Times of Israel, Birthright Israel CEO Gidi Mark said it was a "complex and emotional operation, carried out under immense pressure, and we are proud to have brought 1,500 young adults safely to Cyprus."
From Cyprus, DeSantis and the Florida Department of Emergency Management volunteered four wide-body planes to take the Jewish Americans home.
In 2023, DeSantis also dispatched planes to Israel to evacuate Americans after Hamas massacred Jews on Oct. 7 of that year.

Two Florida DMV Employees Among 8 Arrested
In Florida Scheme to sell fraudulent drivers’ licenses to criminal invaders.
Two DMV employees are among eight individuals arrested in Bay County for involvement in a fraudulent driver’s license ring—issuing official state licenses to illegal aliens in exchange for cash, in clear defiance of state law.
The Bay County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO), in conjunction with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), began investigating in mid‑May after noticing suspicious spikes in license issuance at the Bay County Tax Collector’s office, according to CDL Life.
Bay County Sheriff Tommy Ford announced today at a press conference the results of a joint investigation with partner agencies which resulted in eight arrests and the seizure of $120,000 in illicit proceeds. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges and arrests are expected.
During the investigation, BCSO investigators learned that two employees were indeed issuing a unusually large number of drivers licenses and, when in-house video at the DMV was reviewed, investigators confirmed the individuals receiving the licenses were bypassing the required tests necessary to lawfully receive a license. These individuals were coming from across the state of Florida to Bay County to receive the drivers’ licenses.
The two employees have been arrested. They are Bancelie Velazco, age 37, of Panama City, and Demetrius Smith, II, age 30, of Panama City. Velazco has been charged with nine counts of DMV Employee Issue Unlawful DL and nine counts of Official Misconduct.
Smith has been charged with eight counts of DMV Employee Issue Unlawful DL and eight counts of Official Misconduct. Approximately $120,000 in US currency was seized from the homes of the arrested employees as illicit proceeds.
It was also learned that the individuals coming to Velazco and Smith to obtain their DL were doing so through a third party operating as intermediaries and were paying Velazco and Smith either in person at the DMV or online through a cash app.
Financial records of Smith and Velazco were reviewed and it was learned that both of them were receiving suspicious cash app transactions and that Velazco was depositing a suspicious amount of cash into her accounts, inconsistent with her monthly salary.
Some of the intermediaries were not individuals but organizations like CubaMax, located in Callaway in Bay County. CubaMax is a company that processes immigration documents.
CubaMax acted as a referral source for those seeking to obtain drivers’ licenses fraudulently, directing them to the local DMV. A search warrant was executed at CubaMax to obtain evidence of this scheme.
Additional individuals identified as intermediaries in this operation have been arrested. They are:
Niurbis Rosales, age 37, of Panama City, on 24 counts of Principal: DMV Employee Issue Fraud DL and 24 counts Principal: Official Misconduct. She owned and operated CubaMax.
Leonardo Gutierrez,, age 32, of Panama City, on seven counts of Principal: DMV Employee Issue Fraud DL and seven counts Principal: Official Misconduct.
Hung Du, age58, of Panama City, on 36 counts Principal: DMV Employee Issue Fraud DL and 36 counts Principal: Official Misconduct.
Isbrieta Parra, age 44, of Panama City, on seven counts Principal: DMV Employee Issue Fraud DL and seven counts Principal: Official Misconduct.
Zoila Gonzalez-Pena, age 38, of Panama City, on 12 counts Principal: DMV Employee Issue Fraud DL and 12 counts Principal: Official Misconduct. She was an employee at CubaMax.

Ron DeSantis Says It’s OK To Hit A Protesting ‘Mob’ With Your Car
If you need to ‘flee for your safety.’
'You don't have to sit there and just be a sitting duck.'
Pedestrian right of way only goes so far in the “Free State of Florida.”
Particularly when the non-drivers are obstructing traffic.
Gov. Ron DeSantis is extending “stand your ground” to the roadway, saying that if people feel threatened by protesters while driving, they have the right to run them over to get to safety via what he calls a “zero-tolerance policy.”
“And we also have a policy that if you’re driving on one of those streets and a mob comes and surrounds your vehicle and threatens you, you have a right to flee for your safety. And so if you drive off and you hit one of these people, that’s their fault for impinging on you. You don’t have to sit there and just be a sitting duck and let the mob grab you out of your car and drag you through the streets. You have a right to defend yourself in Florida,” DeSantis told friendly interviewer Dave Rubin on Wednesday.
https://x.com/iAnonPatriot/status/1932988575714598945
As has been the case all week, DeSantis weighed in on the riots in Los Angeles, explaining in great detail why Florida will not tolerate civil disobedience, such as that seen in California, including during protests expected this weekend.
“They’re supposedly going to do demonstrations all over the country, so we’ll see what they do in Florida. We already have our state resources on alert. They will be deployed as needed,” DeSantis said.
“People can always choose to do the wrong thing, even in Florida. The difference is in Florida, you ain’t just getting a slap on the wrist like they do in Portland, and you go right back on the street. You’re going to end up in the inside of a jail cell, and you will be held accountable. So we will do everything within our authority to bring people to justice.”
