At their closest points, mainland Russia and mainland Alaska are only 53 miles apart.
Tomorrow Island (Russia) and Yesterday Isle (USA) are just three miles apart but there's a 21-hour time difference between them. This is because they sit on either side of the International Date Line which passes through the Pacific Ocean and marks the boundary between one calendar day and the next.
During winter, an ice bridge usually spans the distance between these two islands. At these times, it is theoretically possible (although not legal, since travel between the two islands is forbidden) to walk between the United States and Russia.
The Diomede Islands, also known as Tomorrow Island and Yesterday Isle, are two small islands located in the middle of the Bering Strait, between Russia and the United States. The islands are about 2.4 miles (4 kilometers) apart and are divided by the International Date Line. The westernmost of these islands, Big Diomede, is part of Russia and is known locally as Ratmanov Island. The easternmost, Little Diomede, is part of the United States and is known locally as Krusenstern Island.
Over the years, the position of the International Date Line has changed several times.
Alaska, originally claimed by Russia, was to the west of the International Date Line because most travelers arrived there by way of Siberia. When the United States bought Alaska in 1867 the line was moved to the west of it and located between the two islands.
In 2017, Stone & Strand, a New York jewelry company, debuted a new earring line by Maria Tash, and while they were called out for being risqué in their promotions, they quickly blamed the slogan on the firm that they had hired for advertising and the slogan was changed.

If The United Nations Were A Country, Israel Would Have To Declare War On It.
The UN spent decades attacking Israel. Its employees simply took the next logical step.
In 1975, on the 37th anniversary of Kristallnacht, the UN General Assembly adopted a Soviet-led resolution equating Zionism, or the idea of a Jewish homeland, with “racism.”
Sure, the world would see genocides, manmade famines, violent repression of ethnic minorities, authoritarian regimes, terror states, theocratic revolutions, juntas, concentration camps, and communist despotism over the next four-plus decades. But this international parliament of depraved totalitarians and extremists would never lose focus. Since 1975, the UN has condemned Israel, the only free nation in the Middle East, more than any other in the world. Many years, in fact, the tiny country has been targeted with more resolutions than all others combined.
In addition to emboldening and legitimizing Israel’s enemies, including the pioneer of modern terrorism, the UN has also adopted an Arab myth in its effort to erase Jewish identity. Most infamous is a UNESCO resolution denying Jews any historical connection to their faith’s holiest sites at the Temple Mount and Western Wall — a contention that should come as a surprise to anyone who’s read a book. The motion was supported by 24 nations, including Security Council members Russia and China. Only six countries opposed it.
Then there is the United Nations Human Rights Council, whose mission is purportedly to protect “human rights around the world.” Donald Trump pulled funding and refused to allow the U.S. to participate in these Third World, Jew-hating bull sessions. When Joe Biden became president, he rejoined the council. He did so on the same day as Eritrea, which usually ranks below North Korea in those freedom “indexes,” just to give you an idea of the quality of the membership.
This year the sickening farce is led by Morocco. Members include Cuba and China.
Still, as reprehensible as all this history is, no one in any of those agencies, as far as we know, has actively participated in the killing of Jews. One can no longer say the same for the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), another agency Biden rejoined when becoming president.
We now know that at least 12 of UNRWA’s employees took part in the Hamas massacre of Jews on Oct. 7, not merely offering logistical help or coordination, but sometimes participating in the actual kidnapping and murdering of civilians. As of this writing, the UN fired nine of its employees — which seems like a small price to pay for murder. The U.S., Britain, Germany, and Australia, among others, have temporarily paused funding to UNRWA, which has been a major tool for funneling international money to Hamas.
Progressives, naturally, were aghast. Not at the UN’s role in the massacre, but at the funding freeze. “Among an organization of 13,000 UN aid workers, risking the starvation of millions over grave allegations of 12 is indefensible,” Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez explained.
Oh, only 12 people employed by the United Nations participated in the murder, rape, and kidnapping of Jewish women and children, you say? Seems like a lot to me, actually.
Indeed, Israel provided the U.S. with intelligence proving around 1,200 — or about 10 percent of UN employees in Gaza — have direct links to Hamas or Islamic Jihad. Nearly half of UNRWA’s employees are close relatives of members of various terrorist groups. When UN Watch translated 249,000 user posts in the UNRWA chat group right after the terror attack, thousands of them praised Hamas (“May Allah keep their feet steady and guide their aim.”) Most of those excited by the news were likely teachers. And that is vital to remember.
Whatever the number, however, please spare us the argument that the agency bears no responsibility for the actions of its employees. Israel has long warned that the UN was aiding and abetting Hamas. UNRWA knew what was going on. We have known for decades that the agency employs members of Islamic terror organizations. And that’s just the start.
Created as a temporary agency after the Israelis won their independence in 1949, UNRWA was tasked with providing social services and education for those “refugee camps” in Arab nations. The number of refugees that supposedly fled from Israel after the Jews was less than 700,000. More than 70 years later, there are allegedly 5.9 million Arab “refugees.”
When Palestinians were living under Jordanian, Syrian, Egyptian, and Lebanese control, not one of those nations attempted to create a new state. Not one integrated those fleeing a war they started. Palestinians were kept in “camps,” often underwritten by the UN, in an effort to create an intractable situation for Israel and a convenient issue to exploit.
Israel, incidentally, accepted around the same number of refugees after 1948, most of them expelled from their ancestral homes throughout the Islamic world. Until 1952, the UNRWA also helped Jewish and Arab “refugees” within Israel. That was a long time ago. There are no “refugee camps” in Israel anymore. Not for those who came from Iran or Iraq or Morocco or Kenya or Ethiopia or Russia. Or anywhere else.
The UNRWA, tasked with running schools, has not only propped up terror groups on Israel’s border, but it has educated successive generations of Arabs in hating Jews and the West, and believing in the fantastical “right of return.” The UN not only continues to foster the false hope that Arabs will rule a Judenfrei “West Bank” and Jerusalem, but that “refugees” will one day return to Israel proper. The return of nearly 6 million “refugees” would mean the end of Israel. Which is the point. This fantasy has helped scuttle virtually every attempted peace deal.
Tens of millions of people around the world have been victims of major conflicts in the world since the Arab world first failed to destroy Israel. Over those years, Palestinians have been mired in a self-inflicted quagmire of poverty and war while the UN has helped perpetuate the victimhood and extremism. It’s no surprise some of its employees finally decided to take the next logical step.

Planned Parenthood Targets Youth in Video About Virginity, Invents New Definition of Sex.
Well now Planned Parenthood is trying to wordcraft 'virginity' and 'sex' AND they are partnering with the CDC to bring this into public schools.
Virginity is a social construct and everyone can create their own definition of what sex is, Planned Parenthood claims.
Planned Parenthood — which notably profits from the killing of unborn babies via abortion — posted a video to X on Thursday aimed at young people, explaining its definition of virginity and telling young people that they can create their own definition of sex rather than adhere to reality.
They are saying stuff like this:
“Sex means different things to different people. Generally speaking, society tends to define sex in a very narrow way: penetration — penis into vagina. But where does that definition leave queer people? Or folks who can’t, or don’t, have penis-in-vagina sex, and choose to have oral, anal, or another type of sex instead?” the pink-clad woman in the video says.
“Sex is defined by one thing and one thing only: You! Maybe that’s being fingered for the first time. Maybe it’s having anal sex. Maybe it’s having your first orgasm. Maybe it’s masturbating for the first time, or when you enthusiastically consent to sex,” she claimed.
“That’s the beauty of your sexual journey. You’re in charge, and you can figure it out on your own terms. Choosing to have sex — when, what kind, where, and who with — is something that only you get to define,” she concluded.
“One fun thing progressives like to do is to pretend that concrete ideas – like sex and virginity, male and female – are abstract and flexible. The reason they’re doing that here is to trivialize sex,” conservative commentator Allie Beth Stuckey responded. “They want kids to think that sex is no bigger deal than making out so they’ll be more likely to do it. They want kids to think virginity isn’t real so they’ll never try to protect it.”
“And you know what they really want? They want kids to be sexualized at an early age so that they’ll be more likely to be both sexually confused and sexually promiscuous, because people in both these categories a) make Planned Parenthood the big bucks and b) join the ranks of progressive activism,” Stuckey added.

Planned Parenthood notably performed the second-highest number of abortions in its history and saw record-high revenue during its 2021-2022 fiscal year, according to the organization’s annual report released in April of 2023. The abortion giant performed 374,155 abortions, according to the report, titled “Relentless.” That number is down from 383,460 abortions the previous year, the highest number recorded in the organization’s history.

Growing Concerns Over Links Between Transgenderism and Violence.
An increase in mass shootings by gender-confused individuals is sparking worry over the ‘volatile cocktail’ of mental health issues and body-altering chemicals.
Since 2018, five people who identified as transgender or were gender-confused have gone on killing sprees at schools and businesses. Authorities have been increasingly slow to confirm so-called gender identities and motives in cases such as these.
When shooters’ “gender identities” were revealed, some news outlets and commentators were quick to point out that people who identify as transgender and those who say they’re neither male nor female represent a small fraction of mass shooters.
But the numbers show a concerning pattern.
The number of people aged 13 and older who identify as transgender in the United States is estimated to be about 1.6 million, or 0.6 percent of that population, according to the Williams Institute on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Law and Public Policy.
And although 0.6 percent of the 13-and-older population identifies as transgender, 5.4 percent of the mass shootings in recent years involved gender-confused individuals.
Some people think that changing their bodies to reflect a new “gender identity” will solve their mental health problems, according to neuropsychologist Alan Hopewell.
People with gender dysphoria may try hormone treatments first, which makes them more susceptible to mood swings and health problems, Mr. Hopewell said.
Patients attempting to live as the opposite sex take “massive” doses of testosterone or estrogen, he said. Treatments meant to try to alter gender also disrupt brain function and the entire physical system of the body, he said.

There is a growing body of evidence that UNRWA is hopelessly entangled with the terrorist groups that have been active in the various "Palestinian" refugee camps (lol) and cities, and who most recently perpetrated the worst attack on Jews since the Holocaust. Israel has provided evidence (video and other) that shows UNRWA employees actively participating in the terror attacks of October 7th, and supporting Hamas via shared infrastructure. Of course most people who pay any attention to this sort of thing and who have an ounce of common sense knew that long ago, but the evidence is now so damning that it can't be ignored, even by the western governments that fund UNRWA.

President Joe Biden on Friday appointed Palestinian-American attorney Maher al-Bitar, who served on President Barack Obama’s National Security Council as Director for Israeli and Palestinian Affairs and as deputy to Samantha Power, to be the new director of the NSC intelligence service. Politico, which broke the news, described Al-Bitar’s new job as “the day-to-day connective tissue between the intelligence community and the White House.”
Ron DeSantis Calls for Ilhan Omar to Be Expelled From Congress, Denaturalized, Deported.
On Tuesday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis took to X/Twitter to call for Representative Ilhan Omar (Muslim-Somalia) to be expelled from Congress, have her U.S. citizenship revoked, and have her sent back to Somalia. Bravo!
Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis called Tuesday for Minnesota Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar to be expelled from Congress, denaturalized as a U.S. citizen and deported back to Somalia in response to a speech where she said her primary job in Congress is to protect Somali interests.
Omar has faced criticism from Republicans in Congress as well after a Jan. 27 speech has gone viral of her remarks to Somalian leaders in Minnesota.
Omar was speaking in Somali in her speech and did not mention her support for the U.S. and instead said she was “Somalian first, Muslim second” and that she was “here to protect the interests of Somalia from inside the U.S. system,” according to a translation of her speech shared on Twitter by Ambassador Rhoda J. Elmi, the deputy minister of Foreign Affairs of Somaliland.
Omar also reportedly said: “While I am in Congress, no one will take Somalia’s sea. The United States will not back others to rob us. So, do not lose sleep over that,” Newsweek reported.
Ilhan Omar's speech, she was speaking in Somali, which makes one wonder if she presumed nobody would bother with a translation, betrays her real allegiance, which is not to the people of Minnesota's 5th Congressional District, as per the oath of office she took (but has clearly abandoned) when she was elected to the United States House of Representatives. She does not consider herself to be an American, instead claiming to be a "Somalian first, Muslim second."
Where does American come in her calculus? Nowhere, it seems; as a member of the notorious Squad, she has been involved in anti-American activity since she entered Congress.
8 U.S. Code § 1451 - Revocation of naturalization allows for the revocation of U.S. citizenship. This statute states in part:
(a) Concealment of material evidence; refusal to testify
It shall be the duty of the United States attorneys for the respective districts, upon affidavit showing good cause therefor, to institute proceedings in any district court of the United States in the judicial district in which the naturalized citizen may reside at the time of bringing suit, for the purpose of revoking and setting aside the order admitting such person to citizenship and canceling the certificate of naturalization on the ground that such order and certificate of naturalization were illegally procured or were procured by concealment of a material fact or by willful misrepresentation, and such revocation and setting aside of the order admitting such person to citizenship and such canceling of certificate of naturalization shall be effective as of the original date of the order and certificate, respectively: Provided, That refusal on the part of a naturalized citizen within a period of ten years following his naturalization to testify as a witness in any proceeding before a congressional committee concerning his subversive activities, in a case where such person has been convicted of contempt for such refusal, shall be held to constitute a ground for revocation of such person’s naturalization under this subsection as having been procured by concealment of a material fact or by willful misrepresentation.
One can make a good argument that Ilhan Omar misrepresented her intent when she took the oath of allegiance to the United States. She has also allegedly misrepresented family attachments to aid in the importation of other Somalis. But the real key point here is in her speech; she has stated, openly, that her allegiance is not to the United States nor her constituents, but to a foreign power. She deliberately lied when she took her oath of allegiance to the United States and when she took her oath of office as a member of Congress. Governor DeSantis is absolutely correct; Ilhan Omar is claiming, openly, to have no allegiance to the United States, to have lied in multiple sworn oaths, and she should be expelled from Congress, stripped of her citizenship, and returned to whence she came, Somalia. She claims to represent Somalia, then let her do it there. We have no need of her here.
Expel her! Denaturalize her! Deport her! We know that the Biden Administration, of course, will do none of these things, but November is coming. And since the House GOP has expelled one of their own, we can certainly expect them to expel Omar, whose transgressions are far more serious.

On January 31, 1971, Apollo 14, piloted by astronauts Alan B. Shepard Jr., Edgar D. Mitchell, and Stuart A. Roosa, is successfully launched from Cape Canaveral, Florida, on a manned mission to the moon. On February 5, after suffering some initial problems in docking the lunar and command modules, Shepard and Mitchell descended to the lunar surface on the third U.S. moon landing. Upon stepping out of the lunar module, Shepard, who in 1961, aboard Freedom 7, was the first American in space, became the fifth astronaut to walk on the moon.
Shepard and Mitchell remained on the lunar surface for nearly 34 hours, conducting simple scientific experiments, such as hitting golf balls into space with Shepard’s golf club, and collecting 96 pounds of lunar samples. On February 9, Apollo 14 safely returned to Earth.

On January 31, 1968, as part of the Tet Offensive, a squad of Viet Cong guerillas attacks the U.S. Embassy in Saigon. The soldiers seized the embassy and held it for six hours until an assault force of U.S. paratroopers landed by helicopter on the building’s roof and routed the Viet Cong.
The Tet Offensive was planned as a massive, simultaneous attack on the major cities and provincial capitals of South Vietnam. It was scheduled to take place during Tet, the Vietnamese lunar New Year celebration, which was traditionally a time of decreased fighting. In December 1967, following an attack on the U.S. Marine base at Khe Sanh, 50,000 American troops were sent in to defend the area, thereby weakening U.S. positions elsewhere. This American response played into the Viet Cong’s strategy to clear the way for the surprise Tet Offensive, in which Communist forces attacked Saigon, Hue (the imperial capital) and over 100 other urban areas.
The timing and magnitude of the attacks caught the South Vietnamese and American forces off guard, although they quickly recovered and recaptured the occupied areas. Militarily, the Tet Offensive was a disaster for the Communists, who suffered devastating losses. However, while the offensive was a crushing military defeat, the Communists scored a huge psychological victory that would ultimately help them win the war. The graphic images of U.S. casualties suffered during the offensive helped stoke anti-war sentiment among the American people, who had grown tired of the long conflict (active U.S. combat troops had been in Vietnam since 1965; the U.S. first sent in military advisers in 1961). The public was disillusioned by earlier overly optimistic reports of progress in the war and disenchanted with President Lyndon Johnson’s handling of it.
Johnson, frustrated with his inability to reach a solution in Vietnam, announced on March 31, 1968, that he would neither seek nor accept the nomination of his party for re-election. General William Westmoreland, commander of U.S. forces in Vietnam, requested an additional 206,000 troops to finish off the weakened enemy forces. Johnson denied Westmoreland’s request and replaced him with General Creighton Abrams. In May 1968, the U.S. and North Vietnamese began peace talks in Paris and reached a formal agreement in January 1973. Fighting between the North and South continued in Vietnam before the war finally ended on April 30, 1975, when Saigon fell to the Communists and the last Americans left Vietnam.
On January 31, 1917, Germany announces the renewal of unrestricted submarine warfare in the Atlantic as German torpedo-armed submarines prepare to attack any and all ships, including civilian passenger carriers, said to be sighted in war-zone waters.
When World War I erupted in 1914, President Woodrow Wilson pledged neutrality for the United States, a position that the vast majority of Americans favored. Britain, however, was one of America’s closest trading partners and tension soon arose between the United States and Germany over the latter’s attempted blockade of the British isles. Several U.S. ships traveling to Britain were damaged or sunk by German mines and, in February 1915, Germany announced unrestricted warfare against all ships, neutral or otherwise, that entered the war zone around Britain. One month later, Germany announced that a German cruiser had sunk the William P. Frye, a private American merchant vessel that was transporting grain to England when it disappeared. President Wilson was outraged, but the German government apologized, calling the attack an unfortunate mistake.
The Germans’ most formidable naval weapon was the U-boat, a submarine far more sophisticated than those built by other nations at the time. The typical U-boat was 214 feet long, carried 35 men and 12 torpedoes, and could travel underwater for two hours at a time. In the first few years of World War I, the U-boats took a terrible toll on Allied shipping.
In early May 1915, several New York newspapers published a warning by the German embassy in Washington that Americans traveling on British or Allied ships in war zones did so at their own risk. The announcement was placed on the same page as an advertisement for the imminent sailing of the British-owned Lusitania ocean liner from New York to Liverpool. On May 7, the Lusitania was torpedoed without warning just off the coast of Ireland. Of the 1,959 passengers, 1,198 were killed, including 128 Americans.
The German government maintained that the Lusitania was carrying munitions, but the U.S. demanded reparations and an end to German attacks on unarmed passenger and merchant ships. In August 1915, Germany pledged to see to the safety of passengers before sinking unarmed vessels, but in November sank an Italian liner without warning, killing 272 people, including 27 Americans. Public opinion in the United States began to turn irrevocably against Germany.
At the end of January 1917, Germany, determined to win its war of attrition against the Allies, announced the resumption of unrestricted warfare. Three days later, the United States broke off diplomatic relations with Germany; just hours after that, the American liner Housatonic was sunk by a German U-boat. None of the 25 Americans on board were killed and they were picked up later by a British steamer.
On February 22, Congress passed a $250 million arms-appropriations bill intended to ready the United States for war. Two days later, British authorities gave the U.S. ambassador to Britain a copy of what has become known as the “Zimmermann Note,” a coded message from German Foreign Secretary Arthur Zimmermann to Count Johann von Bernstorff, the German ambassador to Mexico. In the telegram, intercepted and deciphered by British intelligence, Zimmermann stated that, in the event of war with the United States, Mexico should be asked to enter the conflict as a German ally. In return, Germany would promise to restore to Mexico the lost territories of Texas, New Mexico and Arizona. On March 1, the U.S. State Department published the note and America was galvanized against Germany once and for all.
In late March, Germany sank four more U.S. merchant ships and, on April 2, President Wilson appeared before Congress and called for a declaration of war against Germany. On April 4, the Senate voted 82 to six to declare war against Germany. Two days later, the House of Representatives endorsed the declaration by a vote of 373 to 50 and America formally entered World War I.
On January 31, 1865, the U.S. House of Representatives passes the 13th Amendment to the Constitution, abolishing slavery in America. The amendment read, “Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude…shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.” The Thirteenth Amendment achieved a two-vote margin above the needed two-thirds majority, 119-56. In the final vote, all 86 Republicans had voted in favor of the Thirteenth Amendment, along with 15 Democrats, 14 Unconditional Unionists, and 4 Union men; opposition came from 50 Democrats and 6 Union men.
When the Civil War began, President Abraham Lincoln’s professed goal was the restoration of the Union. But early in the war, the Union began keeping escaped enslaved people rather than returning them to their owners, so slavery essentially ended wherever the Union army was victorious. In September 1862, Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, freeing all enslaved people in areas that were still in rebellion against the Union. This measure opened the issue of what to do about slavery in border states that had not seceded or in areas that had been captured by the Union before the proclamation.
In 1864, an amendment abolishing slavery passed the U.S. Senate but died in the House as Democrats rallied in the name of states’ rights. The election of 1864 brought Lincoln back to the White House along with significant Republican majorities in both houses, so it appeared the amendment was headed for passage when the new Congress convened in March 1865. Lincoln preferred that the amendment receive bipartisan support, some Democrats indicated support for the measure, but many still resisted. The amendment passed 119 to 56, just barely above the necessary two-thirds majority. Several Democrats abstained, but the 13th Amendment was sent to the states for ratification, which came in December 1865. With the passage of the amendment, the institution that had indelibly shaped American history was eradicated.

U.S. Releases Names Of Soldiers Murdered In Terror Attack, Details On How Attack Happened.
The U.S. Military released the identities of the three soldiers who were murdered by an Iranian-backed terrorist attack in the Middle East over the weekend as well as details about how the attack unfolded.
“Sgt. William Jerome Rivers, 46, of Carrollton, Ga.; Spc. Kennedy Ladon Sanders, 24, of Waycross, Ga.; and Spc. Breonna Alexsondria Moffett, 23, of Savannah, Ga., died Jan. 28, 2024, in Jordan, when a one-way unmanned aerial system (OWUAS) impacted their container housing units,” the Department of Defense said in a statement.

Despite the first unsatisfying results, bombs were tried on Mauna Loa a second time in 1942. This time the vents feeding the lava flow were targeted, but again the direct hits were few. Three days after the bombing, the vents partially collapsed by natural processes and caused the main lava flow to stop.
