The federal government will facilitate and pay for the self-deportation of those who have entered the country illegally, while operations will continue to target gang members and violent criminals, President Donald Trump told Fox News host Rachel Campos-Duffy in an interview filmed at the White House that aired on April 15.
The president said government-provided stipends, including plane tickets and money, could help incentivize illegal aliens to leave the country and pursue legal status.
“We’re going to make it comfortable for people, and we’re going to work with those people to come back into our country legally,” Trump said during the interview. “And then … if they’re good, if we want them back in, we’re going to work with them to get them back in as quickly as we can.”
So they will get paid to leave, then they turn right around and get an expedited “legal” return flight back to America.
This is a policy known in some circles as “touchback amnesty,” and it infuriates border hawks like William Gheen, president of Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC).
Gheen says this amounts to smoke and mirrors being used to hide what is really a policy of amnesty. That word dreaded by all MAGA patriots, AMNESTY, is now the official policy of the Trump administration.
ALIPAC issued an email alert Tuesday that sounded alarm bells and suggested that maybe the man they championed for the White House really isn’t who they thought he was. The alert used not only the dreaded “A” word (amnesty) but the “G” word (globalist) as well. Using the A word and the G word in the same sentence to describe a Trump policy is no small thing. It’s quite astonishing and signals Trump making a major break with his base.
Here’s a passage from the ALIPAC release:
“Americans For Legal Immigration PAC is launching a pressure campaign to oppose President Trump’s globalist plan to bring illegals that self-deport back into America through a Touchback Amnesty plan that was defeated in 2007 when Mike Huckabee proposed the same plan, dubbed Shamnesty by illegal immigration opponents.”
The alert goes on to warn the Trump administration that “a touch-back Amnesty will anger Trump’s base voters, weaken his second Presidency, encourage illegals, and undermine efforts to secure borders and conduct mass deportations. ”ALIPAC ended its email alert with this stern reminder from Gheen:
“Nobody voted for Trump to give illegals Touchback Amnesty and play a Shamnesty trick where illegals leave and come right back into America ‘legally.’ Current law requires illegals to leave America and be prohibited from returning for ten years and for the employers of illegals to be fined, not given Amnesty. We’ve seen and defeated this kind of Amnesty attempt before in 2007.”
ALIPAC said it opposes Amnesty for both illegals and employers that hire them and calls on the Trump administration to impose fines on businesses that employ illegal workers instead of accommodating them.
President Trump did not provide further details about how much money illegal immigrants could receive for flights or how to apply for such benefits.
The president also announced a plan to work with some industries, including hospitality and agriculture, to help business owners offset the impacts of mass deportations. He said:
“We’re making it so that if a farmer can give recommendations to people, we’re going to be very soothing. They’re sort of responsible, and we’re going to have the farmer take responsibility. But you know, ultimately, at some point, we want the people to go out, come back as legal.”

He built his own 130 cubic inch flathead straight 8 engine, the body was made by shortening and narrowing an unknown sedan then adding the front sheetmetal from a 1937 Hudson Terraplane. The rear part seems to be a 1936 DeSoto. The entire car was narrowed lengthwise on the centerline to create a narrow body width.

Florida defamation bill dead in the Senate after conservative backlash.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – A piece of Florida legislation that would’ve revised laws surrounding defamation lawsuits is dead for this legislative session, Florida’s Voice has learned.
A spokesperson for Florida Senate President Kathleen Passidomo’s office told Florida’s Voice that the Senate has no plans to take up HB 757 for procedural reasons.
The bill was brought by Rep. Alex Andrade, R-Pensacola, and was poised for a House floor vote after final committee passage last week.
It would have assumed media outlets engaged in “actual malice” if they publish false statements given to them by anonymous sources, for the purpose of defamation cases.
The Senate bill, SB 1780, failed to make enough progress through its assigned committees.
Even if the House passed the bill and senate it to the Senate, there would not be a committee meeting to consider it, the spokeswoman said.
Top conservative personalities come out against GOP-backed Florida defamation bill.
Former senior advisor to President Donald Trump, Stephen Miller, is among those prominent in conservative circles to voice opposition to the bill.
“If Florida passes the proposed law to lower the standard for defamation expect leftist’ plaintiffs lawyers to spend the next generation bankrupting every prominent conservative based in Florida,” he said. “If you want to go after corporate media then pass a law narrowly tailored at them.”
LibsofTikTok is another prominent voice who came out against the bill, an account run by Chaya Raichik with nearly three million followers.
“This bill is one of the most dangerous pieces of legislation. It will basically severely restrict free speech in the state of Florida,” LibsofTikTok said. “If you live in Florida, please reach out to your local state rep and senator and oppose HB 757.”
Jack Posobiec, the senior editor of Human Events and who has over two million followers, additionally called out the bill.
“This will be used against every influencer in the state of Florida,” Posobiec said. “They’re already going after @ChayaRaichik10.”
Fox radio host Trey Radel is another conservative personality to express strong opposition and concern for the proposal, urging Gov. Ron DeSantis and legislative leadership “kill this bill.”
Talk show host Dan Bongino, who has over five million followers, reposted Radel’s post calling for opposition to the legislation.
“While certain Republicans may think that they’re going to be suing and taking on The New York Times and The Washington Post, here’s the breaking news: liberal trial lawyers are going to have a field day with center-right media in the state of Florida,” Radel said to Fox News Digital. “Signing this into law will destroy conservative media in this state.”
Andrade pushed a similar bill last year, but it ultimately never passed.
Owner of 92.5 FOX News said last year that the station would need to shut down conservative talk because it would “expose our on-air talent and stations” to a string of defamation and false light lawsuits.
“This bill effectively neutering our Conservative News/Talk radio station in Southwest Florida, 92.5 FOX News, from which most of you have benefited,” station owner James Schwartzel said at the time.

The story about a young University of Georgia nursing student, 22-year-old Laken Riley, who was allegedly killed by an illegal alien, 26-year-old Jose Antonio Ibarra, is incredibly sad -- made sadder in that it was completely preventable. Ibarra reportedly was let go into the country by Joe Biden's policies, so Riley's death appears to be fully on the back of Biden's failure to enforce the law.
You would think any American would find this troubling and would want to rectify the problem. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) spoke for many, offering comfort to her friends and family, then calling on Biden to enforce the law.

But part of the problem is that Biden and Democrats haven't done anything about the border for three years. Then last month -- likely as they realized that this was naturally hurting Biden badly in the polls -- they did finally try to flip the script and claim they're been trying to address the problem, but it was the fault of the evil Republicans.
Before last month, if you talked about securing the border and enforcing the law, Democrats would accuse you of somehow being racist.
It looks like George Takei didn't get the talking points memo from last month. The guy who played Star Trek's "Lt. Sulu" has posted some bad things in the past, but this was definitely a winner on the "truly awful argument" meter in response to Johnson.

First of all, Johnson didn't "smear" anyone -- he offered support to the family of the murdered woman. He also called on Biden to enforce the law. That to a Democrat like Takei apparently is "evil," which tells you everything you need to know about why we have this problem at the border with Democrats in power. This is the kind of attitude they've had for three years.
Second, nowhere in Takei's post is there any concern or sympathy for the murdered girl or her family. Instead, he tries to make Johnson's post about race and himself. It isn't about race or Takei, it's about the people being hurt by these policies.
Third, perhaps the most bizarre problem with this is Takei didn't realize how he did in Democrats with this take. Did Takei miss who it was who was "smearing his community during World War II" and interning them? Yes, it was Democrat FDR who wrongly put Japanese-Americans in internment camps. It wasn't Republicans -- the party formed to fight slavery and free individuals. Takei should be taking it up with his buddies, the Democrats. And frankly, seemingly trying to compare illegal aliens who murder people to Japanese-Americans who did nothing wrong is just gross.
Takei got blasted, including by author Xi Van Fleet, who fled Communism.

I recently saw this clip of a play in a Canadian football game and it made no sense to me as well as not being something that would be allowed in American (normal) football.
(Full Disclosure: I’ve NEVER watched a Canadian football game in my life except for the 11 seconds …. wait, to be honest, I watched it 3 or 4 times to try and figure out wtf I was seeing, so write me up for 44 seconds total time.)

(Thanks to my sports freak brother, Danny) Turns out this a rule that applies to Canadian football only. I heard conflicting comments about who has to remain behind the line of scrimmage and who doesn’t but basically when you punt the ball, anyone behind the player kicking is onside (including the kicker) is eligible to recover the ball.
The ball has to cross the line of scrimmage.
This resulted in a recovered punt for a first down.
