(Has anyone checked this out? Ordered anything? Heard anything?)

‘Anti-Woke’ Alternative (PublicSq) to Amazon to go Public This Month.
A new online marketplace that promotes itself as a conservative and patriotic alternative to Amazon is preparing to ring the bell on the New York Stock Exchange and take the company public.
According to the Daily Mail, the San Diego-based PublicSq, which first launched in August of 2022, has already drawn the support of prominent America First figures such as Donald Trump Jr. and former Arizona Senate nominee Blake Masters. The company plans to attract more investors by highlighting its status within the so-called “parallel economy” of conservative alternatives to larger, left-wing businesses, according to excerpts from an investor call on Tuesday.
Trump, who was present on the call, said that it was “awesome” to see the company make an effort to reach out to the “forgotten man, woman, and business of this country.”
“So to be a part of this team, to see what’s going on, to hear the success stories of the people that have been helped by the platform, even in its infancy…it’s just a very, very exciting time,” Trump added.
“I’ve just seen how badly needed PublicSq is,” said Masters. “It’s not just Republicans, by the way, who are crying out. If you look at survey data, it’s Republicans, it’s Democrats, it’s Independents. Pretty much nobody likes corporate America just deciding to install woke values on us when we’re trying to shop for toilet paper or buy a new crib for our baby.”
The marketplace has already seen a doubling of its total number of users in the aftermath of the Bud Light boycott, the first of several instances of major companies facing strong pushback from consumers over support for the ideology of transgenderism ahead of and during the month of June, which some celebrate as “gay pride month.” Other companies that faced backlash include Target and the L.A. Dodgers. Amazon, like many major companies, also repeatedly espouses left-wing beliefs and engages in censorship of conservative products.
As of May 31st, PublicSq reported having over one million active users, after previously having only about 560,000 as of March 31st. PublicSq will ring the bell of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) on July 20th, officially taking the company public.

No Good Deed: Fast Food Could Soon Be Abandoning People’s Republik Of California.

This is a case of Progressives say “hey, this is a really good idea, let’s do it!” Rather like the good old saying here in the South “hey, y’all, watch this”
Why fast-food franchisees could be the next cohort to leave California
Alex Johnson is the kind of entrepreneur who built California. A second-generation small business owner in the San Francisco Bay Area, he and his family run 10 fast-food franchises employing 140 people, most of them first-time job holders like disadvantaged youth and new immigrants. Alex’s family has spent 30 years growing their small business. They’ve never had to close a store.
But the good times are likely ending. He just signed a deal to run nine stores in neighboring Nevada. These may soon be the only stores he runs, because California’s leaders have launched an all-out attack on his business model.
Alex is one of 14,000 franchise owners who’ve been targeted for extinction by California’s leaders. Last year, lawmakers passed the “FAST Act,” creating an unelected board of bureaucrats with unilateral authority to raise the minimum wage by nearly seven dollars per hour and set other labor rules. It only covers the fast-food industry, affecting both mom-and-pop small business owners like Alex and the national brands that such entrepreneurs license as franchisees. Yet the council’s mandates won’t apply to unionized businesses. Franchisees are essentially being extorted into unionizing.
Small business owners and more than 1 million California voters like Alex fought back. They secured a November 2024 referendum that could repeal the law, which is paused until then. In retribution, now unions have pushed lawmakers to target franchisees with even worse attacks.
The definition of fast food in the FAST Act is pretty expansive, and could hit a lot of restaurants besides McDonald’s, Burger King, Wendy’s, Subway, Carl’s Jr, etc, causing them quite a bit of trouble. And for them, why deal with it? Why wait and see what happens in the referendum? Especially since, even if the referendum passes the unions, Leftist wackjobs, and elected Democrats will attempt to try something else and do it fast. Why not just pack up and go elsewhere? Save the grief.
In February, Assemblymember Chris Holden, who authored the FAST Act, introduced a bill to mandate the so-called “joint employer standard.” Assembly Bill 1228–which passed the Assembly on May 31– would hold larger companies responsible for their franchisee’s operations, ostensibly to end labor violations like unpaid wages and poor working conditions. In the case of unpaid wages, this policy is a solution in search of a problem, since quick-service restaurants account for less than 2% of California wage claims–and franchisees less than 0.7%. It also makes no sense, since local franchise owners are responsible for pay and working conditions. Perversely, it would actually force larger companies to begin exerting control, taking away franchisees’ independence as small business owners.
Democrats aren’t even waiting for the results of the referendum, they’re going to make things worse before it happens.
Joint liability is the death knell of the franchise model. Since small businesses will be liable alongside the larger companies they franchise with, they’ll face significant litigation and administrative costs, hurting already slim profit margins. Worse still, the larger companies will take control of franchisees altogether and pursue a corporate ownership model in California, ending opportunities for new and longstanding small business owners.
So much for Democrats being for the little guy. Remember the days when fast food was a high school kid job. The minimum wage jobs were for kids, college students, retired folks and maybe for the non working spouse that wanted to work a little. Now it’s taken over by adults who expect to be paid enough to live on, including when they have kids. How many jobs will be killed by the time they have the referendum?

 Another Schadenfreude Overload
Tribal Chief Is ‘Interested In Reclaiming’ Ancestral Land Where Ben & Jerry’s HQ Now Stands.

Ben & Jerry’s headquarters is located on land originally controlled by a Native American tribe in Vermont, and the chief of this tribe expressed interest in reclaiming the property on Friday.
Ben & Jerry’s marked Independence Day on Tuesday by tweeting that the U.S. should “commit to returning” land to Native Americans.

In response, Don Stevens, chief of the Nulhegan Band of The Coosuk Abenaki Nation said his tribe would be willing to take back the land currently owned by Ben & Jerry’s, according to Newsweek.
“We are always interested in reclaiming the stewardship of our lands throughout our traditional territories and providing opportunities to uplift our communities,” Stevens told Newsweek in an interview. However, Stevens added that Ben & Jerry’s has not approached him with any offers to return the land back to his tribe.
Stevens’ tribe is part of the Nulhegan band which formerly controlled a large portion of New England. When the Europeans moved onto their land, the band was infected with diseases that forced them to move to what is now Canada, according to Newsweek.
In a statement, Ben & Jerry’s claims that the best place to start returning land to Native Americans  is Mount Rushmore. They call for the United States to return the South Dakota land to the Lakota Sioux.
“From there, in 1927, they watched as their holy mountain, now located on land known as South Dakota, was desecrated and dynamited to honor their colonizers, four white men—two of whom enslaved people and all of whom were hostile to Indigenous people and values,” the statement reads.
Ben & Jerry’s hasn’t yet publicly responded to Steven’s comments.
Ben & Jerry’s did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.

Not Quite Instant Schadenfreude, But I'll Take It

Toronto’s supposedly ‘anti-capitalist’ cafe, The Anarchist, has announced that it would be permanently shutting down after just over a year in business.
In a “nobody saw that coming” moment, a Toronto cafe that describes itself as an “anti-capitalist, anti-colonial cafe, shop and radical community space on stolen land,” announced that it would be shutting down permanently by the end of the month.
To counter the idea that the business was itself a capitalist enterprise, the cafe introduced a “pay what you can” coffee, which the owner said cost the business money, but was supposedly subsidized by more expensive drinks on the menu.
Yet, this was seemingly not enough to keep the coffee shop afloat, with owner Gabriel Sims-Fewer writing this week: “Unfortunately, the lack of generational wealth/seed capital from ethically bankrupt sources left me unable to weather the quiet winter season, or to grow in the ways needed to be sustainable longer-term.”
“It’s been an amazing experience, connecting with so many great community members, sparking desperately needed debate, raising the blood pressure of Conservatives (that includes you, “anarcho-capitalists” and “Libertarians”), fulfilling the dream of most service workers by not having to tolerate the presence of professional class-traitors (pigs and military), and experimenting with living and working in ways that don’t enthusiastically embrace the pure misanthropy of Capitalism,” he continued.
“Fuck the rich. Fuck the police. Fuck the state. Fuck the colonial death camp we call ‘Canada’,” the statement concluded.
The Anarchist, which opened for business in March of 2022, went viral last year, with internet users mocking the leftist cafe for charging high prices for its “speciality” coffee as well as selling “radical” art, books, clothing, jewelry, tote bags, and stickers.
“Rest in peace Marx and Engels you would have loved the anarchist coffee shop in downtown Toronto that is charging 4 dollars for a coffee in your name,” one Twitter user said.
