White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre snapped at a reporter (Peter Doocy) this week when she was asked about President Joe Biden’s mental health after he said that he recently talked to a French president who has been dead for nearly three decades.
While delivering remarks in Las Vegas on Sunday, ahead of the Nevada primary this week, Biden hearkened back to a G-7 meeting in the United Kingdom and a gathering of NATO leaders that took place in June of 2021 during which a conversation about the U.S. Capitol breach on January 6 apparently came up.
“I sat down and I said, ‘America’s back’ and Mitterrand from Germany — I mean from France looked at me and said, ‘You know why — how long you back for?'” Biden recalled, invoking François Mitterrand, the former president of France.
A glaring issue with that recollection is that Mitterrand, who served as president of France from 1981 to 1995, has been dead since 1996. At the time of the G-7 meeting in 2021, Emmanuel Macron was president of France.
A reporter asked Jean-Pierre on Tuesday: “And how is President Biden ever going to convince the three quarters of voters who are worried about his physical and mental health that he is okay even though in Las Vegas he told a story about recently talking to a French president who died in 1996?”
“I’m not even gonna go down that rabbit hole with you, sir,” she responded.

She was confronted by a reporter over the administration's false framing that Texas had caused three migrants to drown because they blocked access to a part of Eagle Pass. In reality, the migrants died on the Mexican side of the border before illegally entering the United States and had already been deceased for an hour by the time the Border Patrol arrived.

Try to count the number of times Jean-Pierre blinks once she begins her answer. That's how you know she's cornered. The repetition of the fact that people died is also telling. She has no answer for why she and the White House lied, so she's simply trying to appeal to emotion.
The reporter wasn't done yet. She then pointed out that the administration's claim that Republicans tried to reduce the number of Border Patrol agents is also false.

As noted, even The Washington Post had to throw a flag on that one. Republicans did not try to reduce the number of Border Patrol agents. On the contrary, their proposal specifically protected the CBP from any manpower cuts. Jean-Pierre can't help but repeat her lie, though, because she's absolutely shameless.
It's always disconcerting to me what politics does to people. It's one thing to be passionate. It's another to stand up in front of people day after day and lie to their faces for perceived political gain. That takes a certain psychosis, and Jean-Pierre has it in spades.
All three of her claims were false. All of them were fact-checked, and she can still sit there with a straight face and insist everyone but the White House is wrong. I guess you could admire the consistency, but is it really admirable? Or is it just disturbing?

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Monday was asked about rising antisemitism, and her response was to talk about “disproportionate” hate crimes against Muslims.
Here is a clip from a remarkable exchange during today’s press briefing. Asked the president’s “level of concern right now about a potential rise in antisemitism,” Jean-Pierre first discussed how there was no credible specific threat, but then pivoted to discussing Islamophobia, noting that “Muslims and those perceived to be Muslim have endured a disproportionate number of hate-fueled attacks.” (If you don’t want to just rely on the RNC clip below, C-Span has the entire press briefing, with the relevant portion at around the 45-minute mark.)

Just over two weeks removed from the worst attack on Jews since the Holocaust, with antisemitic incidents on the rise on college campuses and U.S. cities, with synagogues and Jewish schools closing in response to terrorist threats, that the White House has to deflect questions about antisemitism by focusing on threats to Muslims is simply sick.

It is also worth noting, regarding Jean-Pierre’s statement about disproportionate attacks on Muslims, actual statistical evidence. While it’s true that Muslims, who make up about 1 percent of the population, were the victims of about 10 percent of anti-religious hate crimes in 2021, per FBI data, Jews, who are about 2 percent of the population, are the victims of 51 percent of such crimes.
When, in response to the Black Lives Matter movement, anybody attempted to assert that “all lives matter,” they were shouted down as racist. The argument was that doing so downplayed the unique threat of racism to black Americans and hijacked the conversation at a time when the national attention was turning to a focus on racism in the criminal-justice system.
By trying to turn the October 7 massacre — in which Jews were targeted specifically for being Jewish — into a universal lesson about hate and the need to combat Islamophobia, the Biden administration is downplaying the threat of antisemitism and making American Jews less safe.

 African Journalist Simon Ateba Sues KJP After His Press Pass Was 'Unconstitutionally' Revoked.

This week, African journalist Simon Ateba filed a federal lawsuit against White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre and the Secret Service after revoking his press pass.
Ateba is accusing them of unconstitutionally rescinding his press badge to suppress his questions and limit his access to the White House.
The lawsuit, “Ateba v Jean-Pierre,” cites the reporter’s press pass was revoked because of repeated disruptions during press briefings, claiming the White House violated Ateba’s First and Fifth Amendments.
During press briefings, Ateba often raises questions that the Biden Administration doesn’t like to address, such as the behind-the-scenes corruption the president and his son commit.
In May, the White House announced new rules concerning press credentials, which they call hard passes.
This is the first time in U.S. history that the White House initiated a process in which journalists could lose their press credentials to close a longstanding legal loophole that prevented authorities from yanking press badges, according to the New York Post.
When the new guidelines were unveiled, Ateba interrupted Jean-Pierre’s press briefing saying they were making a “mockery of the First Amendment.”
“No president, including President Biden, should be allowed to dictate who covers,” Ateba said.
Ateba has not only rocked boats in the press room with Jean-Pierre but also with then-White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki.
Before leaving the White House for a new gig at MSNBC, Ateba was the first reporter to question Psaki on reports that she was job-hunting.
