An armed, white male protester pointed a rifle at the driver of a vehicle that was being surrounded and attacked the BLM mob. The driver, an Uber driver and former soldier who was also armed, fired at and killed the protester with the rifle.
Police declared this justifiable self-defense. The George Soros-backed Austin District Attorney brought murder charges anyway. And, terribly, the driver who acted in self-defense, Daniel Perry, was just convicted in the liberal enclave.
I’m so glad Abbott did this. It was absolutely a corrupt prosecution, one where the activist DA withheld exculpatory evidence from the court. Sound familiar??

 Power Grab: Biden Admin Tries to Control National Guard, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott Claps Back.

In yet another power grab by the Biden Administration, the Defense Department in March asked Congress to override an existing law that requires governors to approve changes to National Guard units. The proposal would allow the Defense Department to have unilateral power to transfer units to the Space Force because perhaps they’re preparing for an alien invasion or something.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R), long a thorn in the side of Biden on the illegal immigration issue because the president refuses to protect our borders while the Republican governor takes the border invasion seriously, is fighting back and pointed out in a letter to the White House that the move would shatter long-time precedent.
“Although the Texas Air National Guard does not have these types of missions, I strongly oppose any attempt to sideline governors when it comes to their respective National Guards,” Abbott wrote in his letter, dated May 3. "Congress has long required the consent of a governor before units can be transferred out of the National Guard he commands.

Abbott argued that the proposal would set a dangerous precedent and was nothing more than a “power grab.”
“By departing from this sensible arrangement and allowing the Secretaries to dismantle National Guard units on a whim, Legislative Proposal 480 would set a dangerous precedent. Members of the Texas National Guard must always stand ready to respond to natural disasters, civil disturbances, and cartel activity that threaten our way of life,” Abbott continued.
The idea seems to be universally loathed by the nation’s governors of states, territories, and commonwealths, a majority of whom (including even leftist CA Gov. Gavin Newsom) signed a letter to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on April 29 expressing their “strong opposition” to the change, saying that it “undermines over 100 years of precedent as well as national security and military readiness.” Notably missing—Greg Abbott and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, but now Abbott has responded and DeSantis did separately as well*.

One can only speculate as to why Biden Inc. would try to reclassify National Guard units to the Space Force, but it seems more than coincidental that more than a dozen Republican governors have sent state National Guard soldiers to help cope with the disastrous Biden border since 2021. Hmm.

A Texas National Guard soldier deployed from McAllen to Eagle pass under Operation Lonestar was busted for attempting to smuggle an illegal immigrant in a government vehicle on Sunday.
Kinney County Sheriff Brad Coe says the soldier turned around when he approached a pop-up tactical Border Patrol checkpoint off 674 in Kinney County that had only been operational for a few days—The behavior alerting agents who attempted to stop the suv—The sheriff says Texas DPS got involved with the pursuit and used spike strips which ultimately stopped the vehicle.
KCSO assisted in the stop—TX DPS is currently investigating but sources tell me the soldier did not have access to the license plate readers or other technology that would have aided him in his efforts. He was armed so that escalated the smuggling charge. Sources say he was promised $5-6k to transport that one individual.

King, who lives in a house on the property, said he’s been awakened in the middle of the night by migrants surrounding his house.

And with the big groups, I just let them bang and go, because you don’t dare step outside.”
“I don’t care: they ain’t coming in and I ain’t going out,” King said when asked what he thought the migrants wanted from him.
Under Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R), law enforcement in several counties began to use the powerful tactic of arresting illegal migrants with landowners’ permission for trespassing on private property. At King’s ranch, law enforcement is permitted to access the land and arrest migrants that are detected crossing through on cameras or by helicopters.
“We’re all tickled to death with what he’s doing,” King said of Abbott. “Nobody else has decided to do that.”
The migrants crossing through ranches are what law enforcement calls “gotaways” or migrants who do not wish to turn themselves in and claim asylum because they are criminals or have a difficult time qualifying.
King said he’s seen several different nationalities of migrants.
“I’ve had Middle Easterners, I’ve had Somalians, I’ve had nearly every country in South America come through,” he said. “We just caught a group a week ago. We caught eight and you could look at every one of them and they were no good.”
King said he was very appreciative of Abbott for standing up to the Biden Administration and said he’s beginning to see a difference.
“When I say it’s slowed down, that’s a loose term,” King said, pointing out that there’s still more work to do. “ When this first started, it was 100 [migrants] a week coming through here. Now I’m down to probably 25 a week, but we shouldn’t have to put up with it.”
“Abbott is doing his utmost best to protect us here on the border,” he added. “It’s just crazy. I mean, but what else do you want to call it when our state is trying to protect us, but yet our federal government is trying to stop the state from protecting us.”
King added that he believes that the federal government and Congress need to step up and do more.
“I’m sick to my stomach over it,” he said. “I’m 72 years old, so I go way back and I remember when people were actually patriotic and people actually love this country and I don’t see it right now in Congress.”
“When you go up there and you become a senator, you become a representative, you become president, you take an oath to protect our borders,” he added. “Well, I don’t see it and none of us down here on the border see it.”

Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced Friday that his administration is building a Forward Operating Base in the Del Rio sector to house Texas National Guard soldiers who have been deployed to stem the illegal immigration crisis that has been unleashed under President Joe Biden.

Abbott said at a press conference that the new Texas Military Department base camp will assist in the state’s efforts to secure the border.
The governor’s office said that the Texas Military Department acquired 80 acres of land in Eagle Pass to build the base that will regularly house up to 1,800 soldiers and will have the capacity to house up to 2,300 soldiers if needed. Soldiers will have their own rooms in addition to amenities that include a dining facility, a recreation center, laundry facilities, WiFi access, chaplaincy programs, and various health services.
“In the coming weeks, we will also be expanding operations north and south of Eagle Pass, putting up additional barriers to fortify our border,” said Adjutant General of Texas Major General Thomas Suelzer. “We are also adding three more fan boats and expanding our drone program radar truck capabilities.”
Abbott said that the base was “going to dramatically improve conditions for our soldiers” because they were currently “scattered across this entire region in cramped quarters, away from fellow soldiers, and sometimes traveling long distances to do their job.”
Texas, since launching Operation Lone Star, has spent billions of dollars trying to secure its border with Mexico.
“The multi-agency effort has led to over 500,000 illegal immigrant apprehensions and more than 39,500 criminal arrests, with more than 35,600 felony charges,” the governor’s office said. “In the fight against the fentanyl crisis, Texas law enforcement has seized over 467 million lethal doses of fentanyl during this border mission.”

The Biden administration had initially warned Texas that it had until mid-day Friday to relinquish control of Shelby Park, the nearby boat dock, and the International Bridge. That deadline has now come and gone, and instead of there being a major clash between the Border Patrol and the state-controlled soldiers on site, it appears those on the ground have already de-escalated the situation.
The Border Patrol Union ends by slamming Biden for creating the current "catastrophe" and reiterating that there will be no conflict between CBP agents and state forces. The statement is a clear signal of support for the Texas National Guard, its mission, and those leading it, including Gov. Greg Abbott.

This is an incredible turn of events. I don't know if "mutiny" is the right word here, but clearly, Biden has no way to enforce his threats at this point. Border Patrol agents are not going to go along with it and short of using the Insurrection Act to mobilize the U.S. Army (and they likely wouldn't act either), this represents a major roadblock to the president's attempts to further destroy the Southern border.
We are in uncharted territory right now, and I'm certainly thankful cooler heads have prevailed, at least at this point. Will this force Biden's hand toward some kind of renewal of enforcement of immigration laws? Governor Greg Abbott is not messing around. He has just declared an invasion at the border using the constitutional authority given to the states in Article I and has invoked the right of the state to defend itself.
He writes that this constitutional authority “is the supreme law of the land and supersedes any federal statutes to the contrary.”
Here’s the declaration:
The failure of the Biden Administration to fulfill the duties imposed by Article IV, § 4 has triggered Article I, § 10, Clause 3, which reserves to this State the right of self-defense. For these reasons, I have already declared an invasion under Article I, § 10, Clause 3 to invoke Texas’s constitutional authority to defend and protect itself. That authority is the supreme law of the land and supersedes any federal statutes to the contrary. The Texas National Guard, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and other Texas personnel are acting on that authority, as well as state law, to secure the Texas border.

 Border Patrol Chooses Sides After Abbott Seizes Land in Overrun Eagle Pass.

Amid the still-worsening border chaos created by the policies of President Joe Biden, Texas has refused to accept what the Secretary of Homeland Security still can't bring himself to call a "crisis." The Lone Star State's latest action on Thursday: seizing a swath of city-owned parkland along the Rio Grande in Eagle Pass, kicking federal border agents off the property, and enforcing the international border with Mexico.
Rather than being upset that they've been booted from Shelby Park by Texas officials, the Border Patrol union welcomed the state action. In a statement, the Border Patrol union said that "Governor Abbott is not harming Border Patrol operations, he is enhancing them." The union further explained that Abbott "seizing control of Shelby Park allows our agents to deploy to troubled spots that experience high numbers of gotaways. Governor Abbott’s actions should be seen as a force multiplier," the statement added.
What's notable in this situation is that Border Patrol, a federal agency, is siding with Texas Governor Greg Abbott over Biden and Mayorkas. And why wouldn't they? The Biden administration has continued to make the job of border agents exceedingly impossible, often taking them off their regular duties to instead act as drivers, babysitters, and chaperones to help with processing record numbers of illegal immigrants.
At the same time, the federal government has ordered its agents to dismantle physical barriers set up by Texas, sued to block state policies to address the crisis, and insisted that Biden's policy is "humane" and what Texas is doing is somehow morally wrong.

Texas Governor signs new law giving police authority to arrest illegals in the state.

Police in Texas will now have authority to arrest illegal immigrants in the state and prosecute them for entering the state of Texas illegally, thanks to a new law Governor Greg Abbott just signed.
Here’s the lowdown via New York Post:
Texas governor Greg Abbott signed a new law Monday which gives law enforcement officers in the state the power to arrest anyone suspected of entering the country illegally.
The measure comes as photos showed thousands of migrants in Customs and Border Protection (CBP) custody at Eagle Pass in the state, after illegally making their way into the country Sunday night and Monday morning.
Texas also halted two train crossings from Mexico at El Paso and Eagle Pass as of 8 a.m. Monday, on routes where thousands of migrants have been hitching rides through northern Mexico to the border.
Under Abbott’s new law, known as SB4, illegally entering the country into Texas will become a state crime. People arrested under the law will be able to choose whether to follow a judge’s orders to leave the country or be prosecuted and face either jail or a fine up to $2,000. Repeat offenders will then by charged with a felony.
At the signing in Brownsville, Gov. Abbott said: “[Law enforcement officers] are seeing with their own eyes people who are violating the law and now they’re going to have the ability to arrest them, prosecute them, make them subject to jail, make them subject to being sent back and make them subject to even greater penalties if they dare to come into Texas a second time.”
The law is set to take effect in March of next year but you can be sure a lawsuit will be brought to try and stop the new law, perhaps even from Biden’s DOJ. Biden has fought everything Abbott has done to try and stop illegal immigration.

Texas deploys floating barrier in Rio Grande River.
Governor Greg Abbott has installed a stretch of buoys on the Rio Grande River that divides Texas and Mexico in an attempt to hinder migrants from crossing into Texas.
According to spokesperson for the Texas Department of Public Safety, Lt. Chris Olivarez, setting up the barriers could take up to two weeks.
At the border security bill signing ceremony on Thursday, the floating barrier was referred to as a “proactive way” by Steve McCraw, head of the Texas Department of Public Safety, to stop migrants from placing themselves at risk of drowning. He also stressed that the buoys will provide another level of border security.
“This was something that Border Patrol had already looked at, designed and even tested,” McCraw said.
McCraw praised the buoy barrier and claimed it could be “quickly deployed” and moved about. He said that the buoy would be moored to the waterway’s bottom and that, depending on the depth of the water, their height ranges from 4 to 6 feet. The floating barrier will span 1,000 feet — covering a tiny fraction of the 1,254 miles the river spans along the Texas-Mexico border.
In a 15-second video that Abbott (R-Texas) shared on Twitter, buoys that will be used in the river close to the border town of Eagle Pass are carried from trailers.

The governor noted in a tweet on Friday that the deployment is being managed by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
This comes as the Rio Grande’s fast-flowing waters have been one of the deadliest routes for migrants, leading to the drownings of men, women, and children in its turbulent currents.
After the Biden administration had stopped enforcing Title 42, a pandemic-era public health regulation that sent many asylum seekers back to Mexico, the mechanics of crossing changed in May. The maximum number of persons who may enter each day is 1,450, but new regulations allow people to request asylum through a government application and schedule appointments at the ports of entry. The policies of the Texas governor are directed at the numerous people who are angry about the cap and illegally cross the river.
In earlier incarnations of Abbott’s border mission, miles of razor wire were installed at well-liked river crossing spots, and state checkpoints were established beyond federal stops to assess entering commercial traffic.

Border Patrol officers were letting the illegals in so they could process them and set them free.
Melugin explains: “Video from source in Eagle Pass shows Border Patrol cutting through razor wire placed by the state of TX to allow migrants to enter & be processed after crossing illegally.
“TxDPS tells me this is the first time they know of this happening, and that it’s being looked into for potential destruction of TX property. The federal government’s position is that once migrants are on U.S. soil, under U.S. law, they need to be processed, and cannot be repelled or turned away. Texas is taking a much different approach, and has been physically blocking migrants under orders from Governor @GregAbbott_TX.
“TxDPS tells me the location this video was shot at is private property, and that they have permission from the owner to lay down razor wire and arrest migrants for criminal trespassing. This Border Patrol agent is likely just doing what he’s been told – but this will likely lead to more friction between TX & the Feds, who have drastically different approaches at the border.”
