Trump, Zuckerberg have dinner together at Mar-A-Lago.
President-elect Donald Trump and META CEO Mark Zuckerberg had dinner together on Wednesday night at Mar-a-Lago.
“It’s an important time for the future of American Innovation,” a META spokesperson said in a statement. “Mark was grateful for the invitation to join President Trump for dinner and the opportunity to meet with members of his team about the incoming Administration.”
However, The New York Times reported that the meeting was “initiated” by Zuckerberg as he seeks to “insulate Meta” over any negative action his company could face from the incoming administration.
Stephen Miller, Trump’s incoming deputy chief of staff for policy, confirmed the meeting and said that Zuckerberg “has been very clear about his desire to be a supporter of, and a participant in, this change we’re seeing all around America and the world, with this reform movement that Donald Trump is leading.”
“He’s made clear that he wants to support the national renewal of America under President Trump’s leadership,” he added.

The Times noted that the 40-year-old tech entrepreneur has had a strained relationship with Trump ever since Trump entered politics. He did call Trump after he was shot over the summer and referred to Trump’s reaction immediately after being shot as “badass.”

Trump wrote in his book “Save America” that Zuckerberg had plotted against him in the 2020 presidential election and had threatened that he could be criminally charged if he did so in 2024.
“He told me there was nobody like Trump on Facebook. But at the same time, and for whatever reason, steered it against me,” Trump wrote. “We are watching him closely, and if he does anything illegal this time he will spend the rest of his life in prison — as will others who cheat in the 2024 Presidential Election.”
Zuckerberg admitted over summer that his company was pressured by the Biden administration to censor content during 2020.
“In 2021, senior officials from the Biden Administration, including the White House, repeatedly pressured our teams for months to censor certain COVID-19 content, including humor and satire, and expressed a lot of frustration with our teams when we didn’t agree,” he said in an August letter to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH). “Ultimately, it was our decision whether or not to take content down, and we own our decisions, including COVID-19-related changes we made to our enforcement in the wake of this pressure.”
He said that he made choices under pressure from the Biden administration that in hindsight he would not make again.
He said that the company made a mistake by temporarily demoting a New York Post story during the 2020 election about Hunter Biden’s laptop after officials falsely suggested that it was part of a “Russian disinformation operation.”
“It’s since been made clear that the reporting was not Russian disinformation, and in retrospect, we shouldn’t have demoted the story,” he said. “We’ve changed our policies and processes to make sure this doesn’t happen again – for instance, we no longer temporarily demote things in the U.S while waiting for fact-checkers.”
Zuckerberg said that he also wanted to be politically neutral moving forward and that he made a mistake by hiring employees who tried to steer him toward the political Left.
“The political environment, I think I didn’t have much sophistication around, and I think I just fundamentally misdiagnosed the problem,” he said in an interview with The New York Times the following month.
“I think it’s going to take another 10 years or so for us to fully work through that cycle before our brand is back to the place that it could have been, if I hadn’t messed up in the first place,” he added.

Liz Cheney Urges Warmonger Nikki Haley To ‘Stay In The Race’ To ‘Defeat’ Trump.
Former Wyoming Republican Rhinocrat Congresswoman Liz Cheney encouraged former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley to stay in the presidential primary on the left-wing podcast “Pod Save America” Friday.
“I hope she stays in the race as long as she has to,” Cheney said the day after the New Hampshire contest, urging Haley to compete “through Super Tuesday.”
Trump carried the Granite State primary on Tuesday by 11 points after sweeping the Iowa caucuses last week. On “Pod Save America,” Cheney said she wasn’t making an official endorsement in the race, but trashed former President Donald Trump as an “existential threat” who can’t carry the general election.
“So we need to make sure we’re challenging him and working to defeat him at every step of the way,” Cheney said. “And right now, Nikki Haley is in this fight and I think she ought to stay in it.”
“Are you officially supporting Haley over Trump now that it’s just the two of them left?” Cheney was asked.
“I haven’t made any formal endorsements at this point, but certainly I would never support or vote for Donald Trump again,” Cheney said.
Cheney went on the left-wing program to promote her latest book, “Oath and Honor: A Memoir and a Warning,” out in December. The book offers the first-hand tale of the ex-Republican conference chair battling with Trump and his supporters before constituents ousted her from office. Trump, she wrote, was “the most dangerous man ever to inhabit the Oval Office.”
The congresswoman-turned-professor at the University of Virginia did not rule out an independent presidential run herself.
“We’ll see what happens,” she said. “My number one priority is defeating [Trump] and I think that’s going to guide whatever ultimately I decide I’m going to do.”
When asked whether that means officially supporting Democrats this November, Cheney referenced her support for Democrat candidates in the 2022 midterms. That year, Cheney backed former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s effort to maintain Democrats’ majority. In the run-up to her 2022 re-election primary, Wyoming Republicans voted to no longer recognize Cheney as a member of the GOP.
“What I have done,” she said, “is support people that I believe are going to defend the Constitution, and I did that with respect to Abigail Spanberger and Elissa Slotkin.” The two far-left lawmakers survived re-election to the lower chamber, where Republicans hold a six-seat majority. Spanberger is now running for governor of Virginia and Slotkin is campaigning to represent Michigan in the Senate.

On November 7, 1775, shortly after the conviction of Dr. Benjamin Church, America’s first traitor, the Continental Congress added a mandate for the death penalty as punishment for acts of espionage to the “articles of war.” Dr. Church corresponded with the British general Gage about Continental troops and arsenal locations.
Church was court marshaled, removed from his post as Director General, and arrested. He was briefly jailed in Norwich, Connecticut, until January 1776 until he got ill and was allowed to live under house arrest at his home in Massachusetts until 1778 when he was named in the Massachusetts Banishment Act, forcing those who supported the British or “joined the enemies thereof” to leave the United States. He sailed from Boston headed for the Caribbean, but the ship was lost at sea, and Church likely perished along with it.

Legal sources here said Thursday that Pvt. Travis King, 23, received a 5 million-won ($3,955) fine from a court in Seoul on Feb. 8 on charges of inflicting damage on a police patrol vehicle.
King, however, did not pay the fine and was eventually detained in a prison workshop for 48 days in line with a court ruling that he be held for one day for each unpaid 100,000 won, the sources said.
He was accused of repeatedly kicking the back door of a police patrol vehicle in Seoul's Mapo district in the wee hours of Oct. 8 and inflicting damage that required 584,000-won worth of repairs.
King was apprehended by police at that time for suspected violence at a nightclub. He reportedly did not cooperate with police officers demanding his personal information and kicked the door of the police car while shouting foul language against Koreans and the Korean military, according to police investigations.
King was detained from May 24 to July 10 in a penitentiary in Cheonan, 85 kilometers south of Seoul, before being released and relocated to an American military base in South Korea for a weeklong stay. He was reportedly found to have fled Incheon International Airport on Monday afternoon while in the process of boarding a flight to Dallas.
King then willfully crossed the inter-Korean border into North Korea without authorization during a tour to the Joint Security Area on Tuesday and is believed to be in North Korea's custody, according to the United Nations Command and American defense authorities.
Interestingly, the US armed forces did not seek to have him do his time in a military jail, but were content to leave him in a Korean prison for the duration. It's also reported that he was on his way back to the USA to serve another couple of months in military prison here, followed by a dishonorable discharge for bad conduct.
I suspect North Korea is about to find out (and may already have done so) that they made a very bad bargain when they let him in. I suggest that, if they offer to return him, we should refuse. We have enough problem children to deal with already.
US soldier who fled to North Korea was facing disciplinary action.
SEOUL, South Korea — An American soldier facing military disciplinary actions fled across the heavily armed border from South Korea into North Korea, U.S. officials said Tuesday, becoming the first American detained in the North in nearly five years.
Private 2nd Class Travis King had been held on assault charges and was released on July 10 after serving his time. He was being sent home to Fort Bliss, Texas, on Monday, where he could have faced additional military disciplinary actions and discharge from the service.
According to officials, King, 23, was taken to the airport and escorted as far as customs. But instead of getting on the plane, he left the airport and later joined a tour of the Korean border village of Panmunjom. He bolted across the border, which is lined with guards and often crowded with tourists, on Tuesday afternoon local time in Korea.
The Army released his name and limited information after King’s family was notified of the incident. But a number of U.S. officials provided additional details on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter. It wasn’t clear how he got to the border or how he spent the hours between leaving the airport on Monday and crossing the border a day later.
According to Army spokesman Bryce Dubee, King is a cavalry scout who joined the service in January 2021. He was in Korea as part of the 1st Armored Division.
The American-led U.N. Command said he is believed to be in North Korean custody and the command is working with its North Korean counterparts to resolve the incident. North Korea’s state media didn’t immediately report on the border crossing.
Tuesday’s border crossing happened amid high tensions over North Korea’s barrage of missile tests since the start of last year. A U.S. nuclear-armed submarine visited South Korea on Tuesday for the first time in four decades in deterrence against North Korea.
Sean Timmons, a managing partner at the Tully Rinckey law firm, which specializes in military legal cases, said if King is trying to present himself as a legitimate defector fleeing either political oppression or persecution, he would be dependent on North Korea’s leadership to decide if he can stay.
He said it will likely be up to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to decide King’s fate.
“It’s going to be up to the whims of their leadership, what they want to do,” Timmons said.
It’s now being reported that the soldier that crossed the DMZ, may have defected to North Korea:
An American soldier, Pvt. Travis King, who has been detained in North Korea after crossing the border from South Korea laughed loudly as he sprinted away from a tour group, a witness has claimed.
The soldier shouted ‘ha ha ha’ as he made the mad dash while taking part in a Joint Security Area Tour, which takes sightseers through the area between North and South Korea.
In a further bizarre twist, it is claimed that the man had managed to join the tour after escaping disciplinary action from his US Army bosses over a separate incident. It’s not known why he faced disciplinary action.
The Korean Herald said the US national had ‘defected’ to North Korea.
Before the border incident, the soldier was being escorted back to the US and was taken through security at a nearby airport. But he somehow managed to flee and return into South Korea before joining the tour, according to CBS News.
The UN Command says it is now trying to negotiate his release. The incident happened at around 3.27pm local time on Tuesday (2.27am ET)
A witness told CBS News the tour group had just visited a building in the area when ‘this man gives out a loud “ha ha ha”, and just runs in between some buildings.’
‘I thought it was a bad joke at first, but when he didn’t come back, I realized it wasn’t a joke, and then everybody reacted and things got crazy,’ the witness said.
There was then a moment of panic before the rest of the group were escorted back to Freedom House, a border landmark, and asked to give statements before they taken away from the area by bus.
A US official told the Washington Post that the soldier had been scheduled on a recent flight but didn’t board. ‘This was a deliberate decision on part of the service member to cross,’ the official said.
Well if this isn’t the most bizarre thing I’ve heard in a long time. And it’s certainly going to complicate matters of his return.
