Non-citizen elected to San Francisco’s Elections Commission even though she can’t legally vote.

A non-citizen immigrant from Hong Kong was just voted in as part of San Francisco’s Elections Commission, despite the fact that she cannot legally vote in America.
Below is video of her getting sworn in:

So how did this happen? According to Fox News, “San Francisco passed a measure in 2020 removing the citizenship requirement to serve on city boards, commissions and advisory bodies.”
No wonder the Chinese are flocking to border in California.
Wong can speak fluent English according to Fox News. The report above is by KTSF – “KTSF (channel 26) is an independent television station in San Francisco, California, United States, broadcasting in a variety of languages, most notably Chinese.”

Starbucks is the latest major company to announce that it would shrink operations in the Golden City. The coffee chain is slated to close seven stores in San Francisco as the city struggles with rampant crime.
According to the New York Post, around 40 retail stores in the Union Square section of the city alone have closed in addition to “dozens” more in other areas of town.
Earlier this year, San Francisco Mayor London Breed asked for federal assistance to deal with the city’s issues, including drugs, violence, and homelessness. In a letter obtained by the San Francisco Chronicle, Breed said that the problem is “beyond our local capacity.”

Workers at SF Federal Building told to work from home due to crime.

SAN FRANCISCO - Workers at San Francisco's Federal Building located on 7th and Mission streets are reportedly being advised to work from home due to safety concerns over crime.
The Chronicle reported that the Department of Health and Human Services issued a memo last week calling for employees to "maximize the use of telework," due to conditions around the building.
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has also reportedly expressed safety concerns about her staff who work there.
The plaza has been known for years as a place where drug use and sales are common.
This summer, Governor Gavin Newsom announced he would double the amount of California Highway Patrol officers deployed in San Francisco as part of a plan to crackdown on the ongoing deadly fentanyl crisis.
In May, a rare open-air Board of Supervisors meeting was held outdoors at Civic Center Plaza. Some supervisors pressed the mayor about the persistent drug problems in parts of the city, but the meeting quickly devolved into heckling and a brick was thrown by someone before the meeting had to be moved back indoors.
The open-air drug markets, known to be commonplace in neighborhoods such as the Tenderloin, and the crime that has accompanied them have been blamed for impacting popular retail corridors.
In April, Whole Foods closed their flagship San Francisco store about a block away from the SoMa Federal Building. Whole Foods representatives said it was because of employee safety concerns, although Supervisor Matt Dorsey, who represents SoMa and the Tenderloin, characterized the closure as temporary.
A few months later, it was announced that management of San Francisco's Westfield Centre would be transferred to its lender, who would then appoint a receiver to operate the property. They cited a downturn in foot traffic, occupancy and declining sales as the reason for their decision.
When Florida Governor Ron DeSantis used San Francisco as a backdrop for a campaign ad to further tarnish perceptions of San Francisco in national media, Mayor London Breed came to her city's defense, saying the conservative presidential hopeful was playing politics. She added that while he was quick to criticize, he offered no solutions.
The mayor is performing a balancing act of being a cheerleader for San Francisco but has also acknowledged crime in the city as she pushed for a bigger police budget.
In her back and forth with San Francisco supervisors, Breed had said crime is the number one concern in the city and something everyone is talking about.

California Highway Patrol officers said they started receiving a call about a woman driving recklessly on eastbound I-80 at around 4.40pm Tuesday.

One caller even said the woman, who was driving a white Chevy sedan, brandished a gun at her.
The caller went on to say that the driver got out of her car in the middle of the road with a knife, and started yelling at other drivers on the road.
After re-entering her vehicle, the woman allegedly stopped her car again just past the toll plaza on the Bay Bridge, parked across 2 lanes of traffic, and exited the car completely naked.
She then allegedly began firing a gun, but officers say no injuries were reported and no vehicles were struck by gunfire.
The unidentified woman could be seen walking through lanes of Interstate 80 without any clothes or underwear on as she pointed a handgun
When California Highway Patrol officers arrived on the scene, they said they told the woman to drop her gun. The woman initially refused but she ultimately complied.
But the cellphone videos posted online suggest the woman had already emptied her magazine at that point.
It ends with the woman being handcuffed behind her back and led into a patrol car.
Authorities say the woman has since been placed on a mental health hold at a local hospital, and will be booked on unspecified charges upon her release.
The incident left the bridge closed for an hour, with residual delays lasting into the night.

New San Francisco Grand Jury Report Finds That 1 in 4 Teachers In City Are Uncredentialed

According to a new report from the City and County of San Francisco Grand Jury, one in four teachers in San Francisco are currently uncredentialed and not qualified to teach.
Before the report came out on Thursday, the San Francisco Unified School District had already been going through turmoil this week following the release of documents finding a teacher last year had to be suspended for discriminating against white students.
While the district had many other longer-term problems going on as well, the most urgent by far was the teacher shortage. At the beginning of the school year in August 2022, around 100 certified vacancies were open, as well as 150 paraeducator vacancies. The district quickly tried to fill the positions, including plugging in Teachers on Special Assignment, general educators who support school sites, programs, and classrooms, where needed.
The United Educators of San Francisco (UESF) teachers union quickly downplayed the shortage, instead saying that it was a low professional pay situation turning many teachers away that was the issue.
“Teacher turnover has been drastic for a decade,” said the UESF last year. “Three out of every five professionals who choose to become teachers turn over and later leave the field. The union’s position on this is that there is no teacher shortage, there is a crisis of professional pay and disrespect for our profession.”
“The public perception of teachers has suffered as a result of the narrative that was coopted by certain political parties, which pitted the public against educators and their unions.”

Despite doing everything to help fill the vacancies, San Francisco still had a shortage this year, with worries over its credentialing process building up throughout the year as well as many teachers were found to have not been credentialed at all. The suspicions were finally confirmed late Thursday when the Grand Jury report found that one in four teachers in the district was uncredentialed.
According to the report, San Francisco has so few credentialed teachers due to a low starting salary of $54,000 a year, payroll issues, and a high number of teachers leaving the district.
While some issues are being corrected, such as the district fixing the payroll system that has locked many teachers out of their pay for weeks or months at a time, some cannot be fixed as quickly. Most notably, for higher teacher pay to attract more teachers back to the city, either San Francisco would need to allocate more funds for higher pay or voters would need to vote on a a new bond or tax to make it happen. But with the city facing a huge budget deficit, and voters being largely apathetic to such a measure on the ballot, problems, like the high number of uncredentialed teachers, are expected to continue for some time.
“There’s a lot of combined problems,” former teacher and current educational professional transfer assistant Lindsay Martinez told the Globe Friday. “There’s pay issues, pay amounts, school quality, the whole situation in San Francisco right now with crime and drug use, high rent, better offers out of the district, better teacher conditions out of district, and many teachers leaving due to a spouse finding work elsewhere all causing this problem.”
“The Grand Jury report shocked a lot of people, but honestly, it came to as no surprise to those in educational circles. There are shortages everywhere, but in San Francisco it has become more pronounced. Few teachers want to really teach there anymore. And it’s everyone’s fault. The city, the school district, the union, individual teachers. Everyone is to blame to some degree. People always wonder why so many parents push students to be home schooled or to go to private schools in California. Or, if they’re lucky, some of the highest ranked public schools. This is partly why.”
“There is no easy or quick solution for San Francisco on this. Even a huge bump in funding for better pay won’t fix the fact about the dangers in the city for example. The problems compound each other. They need to target the largest problems first, but that’s tough with a huge budget deficit. San Francisco never planned for a contraction of taxes and population, and it is showing more and more every day.”
More on the teacher crisis in San Francisco is likely to come out soon before the start of the 2023-2024 school year.
