Mexican Sex Trafficker Gets 15-Year Sentence After ICE Investigation

A Mexican sex trafficker is facing 15 years in jail after a team at Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) exposed his massive network.
An ICE investigation led to the arrest of Hugo Hernandez-Velazquez, who was extradited to the United States from Mexico in February of 2021, according to an ICE press release.
Hernandez-Velazquez pleaded guilty to one count of sex trafficking and was sentenced on July 10. He will be deported after completing his sentence.
Prosecutors proved in court that Hernandez-Velazquez and his family in Mexico used force, fraud, and coercion to trick young women in Mexico into engaging in prostitution in the U.S. by telling them they had marriage proposals from men living in the U.S. But once the woman made it to America, they were enslaved into the sex trade. The girls were beaten, forced to undergo abortions, often heavily drugged, and were told their families in Mexico were at risk if they did not obey their traffickers.
The organization headed by Hernandez-Velazquez operated in New York, Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.
“For nearly a decade, the defendant and his family oversaw a vicious sex trafficking campaign wrought with violence, manipulation, coercion, and outright force against women whom they lured into romantic relationships through false promises of love and support,” said ICE Homeland Security Investigations New York Special Agent in Charge Ricky J. Patell. “Every day, victims are targeted for human trafficking and other vile forms of exploitation and abuse, often at the hands of their own spouses or purported caretakers. Today’s sentencing is no doubt a direct result of the bravery of each survivor who courageously spoke up. Together with our partners, HSI is unflinchingly committed to investigating and vigorously pursuing anyone, anywhere, who sexually exploits the very individuals they claim to care for.”
U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York Joseph Nocella, Jr., added, “For years, the defendant and his siblings operated an illegal, abusive, and exploitative sex trafficking operation that stripped victims of their dignity and subjected them to inhumane violence. It is my hope that the prosecution of their tormentors and the punishment meted out will provide a measure of closure for the brave survivors who assisted the investigation and will help them on their path to healing.”
This gang and its network are just one example of the wild upswing in prostitution created by the Biden administration with his lax border policies.
Thousands of young women and boys found themselves forced into prostitution to pay back the costs they incurred from coyotes who trafficked them to the U.S. during the Biden years.

This is a portion of an ABC interview between a female journalist Leigh Sales and General Cosgrove who was about to sponsor a Boy Scout Troop visiting his military Headquarters.

Leigh Sales: So, General Cosgrove, what things are you going to teach these young boys when they visit your base?
General Cosgrove: We're going to teach them climbing, canoeing, archery and shooting.
Leigh Sales: Shooting! That's a bit irresponsible, isn't it?
General Cosgrove: I don't see why, they'll be properly supervised on the rifle range.
Leigh Sales: Don't you admit that this is a terribly dangerous activity to be teaching children?
General Cosgrove: I don't see how. We will be teaching them proper rifle discipline before they even touch a firearm.
Leigh Sales: But you're equipping them to become violent killers.
General Cosgrove: Well, Ma'am, you're equipped to be a prostitute, but you're not one, are you?

The broadcast went silent for 46 seconds and when it returned the interview was over.

(This conversation / prostitute quip has been around awhile and has been attributed to a number of different people over the years. And with Snopes denying it happened made it seem even more authentic … but it’s not. Regardless, Sir Peter Cosgrove is a legend in my book. One of the rare times you will see me use a snopes link, but you have to take into consideration … if snopes says it’s false the chances of it true go up drastically.)

Venezuela Cons U.S. Fugitive, Returns Him To U.S. In Prisoner Swap.

“Fat Leonard,” the flamboyant defense contractor who admitted to bribing top Navy brass with booze and hookers in a $35 million scheme and bolted while awaiting sentencing earlier this month, was turned over by Venezuelan officials to the U.S. this week as part of a prisoner swap.
The swap included Fat Leonard, whose real name is Leonard Glenn Francis, along with 10 Americans who had been held prisoner in Venezuela in exchange for the U.S. releasing a close ally of Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro.
Francis, a Malaysian national, was captured at the Caracas airport in Venezuela in September 2022 as he prepared to flee the South American country for Russia, Interpol said. Francis, 58, had been in U.S. custody, but earlier in the month he cut off his ankle monitor while under house arrest in San Diego and slipped out of the country, sparking an international manhunt.
Venezuela told Francis this week that they were going to release him from custody so that he could receive medical treatment, and he believed that he would be completely free by the end of this year, The Washington Post reported. However, the socialist country was lying to him and his lawyer so that he would not legally contest his transfer back to the U.S. as the two countries had reportedly negotiated in secret for months.
On Wednesday, Francis was thrown onto a small jet and flown to the Caribbean island of Canouan, where he was handed over to U.S. officials. He was subsequently transported to Miami and locked up in federal prison. He is expected to be flown back to San Diego in the near future so he can be sentenced in his criminal case.
Francis pleaded guilty in 2015 to plying Navy officials with cash, prostitutes, and expensive dinners to help his Singapore-based ship servicing company, Glenn Defense Marine Asia, land contracts. Prosecutors claim the company bilked the Navy out of $35 million for servicing ships. Francis was to be sentenced in September 2022, after cooperating with prosecutors for years to secure convictions of dozens of people, including more than 20 Navy officers.
The plea deal called for Francis to repay the government the $35 million, but so far, he has only repaid $5 million.
In 2021, Francis bragged about his lucrative scheme in a Project Brazen podcast series.
“Everybody was in my pocket. I had them rolling around in my palm. I had the Navy by their balls. I turned my torpedo, my guns against them, because they betrayed me,” Francis says in one episode of a nine-part series.
Francis, who owns his own decommissioned U.S. war ship and is reportedly obsessed with American culture, described how he targeted Navy Commander Michael Misiewicz by providing him with prostitutes and infiltrating his inner circle of family and friends.
“They wanted to have the good life that they could not have,” Francis said. “They wanted the fine dining, the fine gifts, hotel rooms, sedans, luxury cars, watches, handbags, fancy meals, alcohol, cigars.”
But the Misiewicz operation was Fat Leonard’s downfall. When the Navy man’s wife, Marcy, confronted her husband about her suspicions he was cheating, he beat her. She reported him to Navy officials, who launched an investigation that uncovered damning emails.
Misiewicz was sentenced to over six years in prison.
Francis has claimed without evidence that senior admirals were protected by the Pentagon.
“Some of the more senior admirals got handled by the Navy because then they can be brushed under the carpet, it’s little more than a slap on the wrist, they call it ‘different spanks for different ranks,'” he said in the podcast series.

Investigators Reveal Details on Brothel Ring Serving Politicians, Military Officials.
Federal investigators have released further details on a network of “sophisticated high-end brothels” that serviced politicians, military officials, and government contractors, revealing that the alleged ringleaders kept “impeccable” records of their million-dollar operation.

The prostitution ring was busted earlier this month by the Department of Justice (DOJ), with three Korean nationals arrested for their alleged roles in orchestrating the criminal network. Han Lee, 41, James Lee, 68, and Junmyung Lee, 30, “walked through the border safeguards that have been relaxed by President Joe Biden’s border chief, Alejandro Mayorkas,” Breitbart News reported after their arrests on November 8.
The new details about the criminal organization, which operated in luxury apartments in Massachusetts and Virginia, were revealed in an affidavit submitted to the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts on Wednesday by Department of Homeland Security Special Agent Zachary Mitlitsky, the New York Post reported.
Han, whom the agent described as the leader, allegedly “concealed over one million dollars in prostitution proceeds.”
“I believe that Han’s financial and business record keeping was impeccable,” he stated.
Mitlitsky argued that the alleged co-conspirators could have access to even more money that investigators haven’t found yet, thus posing a flight risk, and should remain in custody until their hearings.
“Han maintained ledgers detailing the daily activity of her brothels. At the time of the search warrant execution, one such ledger was open to a page showing the stage names, appointment dates and times and earnings of the women,” Mitlitsky detailed, noting that one of the names on the ledger matched a woman discovered to be at the Tysons, Virginia, branch of the brothel network when law enforcement executed a search warrant. She had allegedly been pimped out by the suspects.
“Next to the ledger were envelopes containing bulk cash and handwritten notes with the stage names of women and a tally of their earnings,” the agent added.

The agent also described the wealth and evidence found in Han’s Cambridge, Massachusetts apartment, including a Louis Vuitton shoe box containing hundreds of well-organized money order receipts, $22,000 in cash, dozens of gift cards, 16 cell phones, and “bulk quantities” of condoms, lubricants, lingerie, UTI and pregnancy testing kits, and false eyelashes.
Investigators also discovered a phone appearing to have communications between Han and the prostitutes.
“During these communications, Han not only listed a brief description of the anticipated customers, expected sexual services and corresponding pricing, and schedule of appointments for the day but also set forth what I believe to be her house rules for commercial sex workers engaging in sex for a fee at the brothel apartments,” the affidavit states.
According to the court filing, Junmyung is believed to be the one who was “in charge of booking the appointments for the sex customers.” His Dedham, Massachusetts, apartment contained $5,000 in cash, four ledgers, and multiple computers and cell phones when police searched it.
A page from an appointment book included in the affidavit appears to show that “at least one of the sex workers slaved for about 10 hours on October 18, 2022 – from 8:30 a.m. to 8:15 p.m., with a one-hour break,” the Post reported.
“Collectively, these three photographs show that the prostitution network not only maintained meticulous daily records of their operation but also kept those records for a lengthy period of time,” Mitlitsky wrote.
“Deposits in Junmyung’s bank accounts totaled approximately $378,365, according to the agent. Han’s bank accounts showed approximately $965,000 in mostly cash deposits going back to December 2019,” the outlet reported.
“There is significant concern by investigators that Han may have control over other accounts not yet identified,” Mitlitsky wrote, adding that Han allegedly transferred tens of thousands of dollars to South Korean bank accounts and to as many as 30 individuals.
Following the affidavit, lawyers for Han and Junmyung agreed to a voluntary order of detention, and will be able to move for their release at a later date.
A detention hearing for the third alleged co-conspirator, James Lee, has not yet been scheduled.
At the time of their arrests, investigators said the “commercial sex buyers allegedly included elected officials, high tech and pharmaceutical executives, doctors, military officers, government contractors that possess security clearances, professors, attorneys, scientists, and accountants, among others.”
“The investigation into the involvement of sex buyers is active and ongoing,” the Massachusetts U.S. Attorney’s Office announced at the time.
No identities of the sex buyers have been publicly released at this time.

‘Open Sex Markets 24 Hours A Day’: In Wake Of Democrat Backed Law, Prostitution Spreads In California.

Californians are complaining about barely-clothed prostitutes roaming the streets in broad daylight, an issue heightened by Democratic Gov. Newsom signing Senate Bill 357, local officials say.
SB 357, which was authored by Democratic state Sen. Scott Wiener and backed by the ACLU, decriminalizes “loitering with intent to commit prostitution.” Critics say the law effectively decriminalizes prostitution in California.
National City Mayor Ron Morrison, an independent, recently criticized the law, telling Fox News that prostitutes are now “wearing less than what you would consider a scanty negligee” and “flaunting it in everybody’s face.”
Morrison also said the law, which was signed by Newsom last year, ties the hands of law enforcement, stating that the “moment” the bill was signed “everyone knew the rules were out the window.”
San Diego Police Chief David Nisleit, likewise, told The Daily Wire that the law has “made it extremely difficult” for police to get involved.
“In the past, you know, when we were able to contact women or those involved in sex trafficking, we could use the ‘loitering with intent’ after we watched them. Once they decriminalize that, we really don’t have an entryway into making that contact anymore,” he said during a phone interview.
“What we’re seeing now, is we have these open sex markets, 24 hours a day, 365 days out of the year,” the police chief said.
Morrison claimed police also can’t apprehend these women for indecent exposure, since the way that law is written, if their genitals are covered, they can’t be arrested.
Video footage from the Bay Area and San Diego, in particular, show women walking the streets in g-strings, bras, and high heels, sometimes bending over in traffic, at all times of the day. Residents have routinely complained about the noise, the fighting, the drug use, and how it’s wildly inappropriate for such behavior to be around children. The residents who have spoken out, typically anonymously, also worry for the women selling themselves, fearing they could be sex trafficking victims.
Chief Nisleit said the law emboldens those trafficking women, “specifically younger women,” and makes it “much harder for us to rescue those victims. Just because you decriminalize something, doesn’t mean the impact on the victim, those who are being trafficked, or on the community goes away. In fact, sometimes, like this, it increases.”
Wiener said he drafted the legislation to protect “trans and black and brown women,” whom he claims are harassed by police for their identity.
“Why would we have a criminal law allowing a police officer to arrest you based exclusively on how you look, not on what you do?” Wiener said. “That’s wrong, we shouldn’t have that kind of law on the books. And police have plenty of laws that deal with trafficking and they should be doing more work on addressing trafficking and less time complaining.”
Anti-sex trafficking advocates and local leaders, including both Democrats and Republicans, are currently working to repeal SB357, but thus far those efforts have fallen short. The law continues to have strong support from Democrats in the state Senate. In March, Senate Democrats voted against a repeal effort 29 to 8.
