Uber-Socialist Cori Bush Pushing Insane “Unhoused” Bill

On the bright side, even the Democrats aren’t insane enough to vote for this bill, right? There’s zero chance it even gets a vote on the House floor. It does let us know what the hardcore Democrats really want.

This bill is so crazy I have to wonder if it was written by the crazy homeless in San Francisco, Seattle, and Portland. Starting on page 9 of the bill (which is linked in the Libertarian Mama tweet)
        (1) the right to decent, affordable, and accessible housing, livable wages, and universal health
        care; (so, free healthcare)
        (3) the rights, privileges, or access of an individual to public services, parks, sidewalks, transportation, buildings, or facilities without discrimination on the basis of their housing status; (so, they can simply go into any private building whenever the hell they want)
        (4) the right to uninhibited access to public parks, transportation, facilities, sidewalks, buildings, and restrooms without discrimination on the basis of their housing status; (so, putting up tents anywhere, using any bathroom anytime)
        (7) the right not to be subject to penalties for standing, walking, resting, or sleeping in a public place or vehicle in a non-obstructive manner, including relying on tents, sleeping bags, additional clothing, or other supplies intended to make sleep comfortable and possible; (this would negate all state and local ordinances on no tents on sidewalks, no loitering, etc. This is a 10th Amendment violation)
        (8) the right to pray, meditate, or practice religion in public spaces without being subject to criminal or civil sanctions, harassment, or arrest; (this could backfire as the abortion supporters try to stop anti-abortion forces outside abortion clinics)
        (9) the right to solicit donations in public spaces without being subject to criminal or civil sanctions, harassment, or arrest in a manner that violates the right to free speech; (negating all panhandling and other laws, will die in court)
That’s just some of it. Moving on to things on page 12 (below the fold)

(b) PROTECTIONS OF UNHOUSED INDIVIDUALS.—It is the sense of the House of Representatives that the United States must establish regulations and enforcement tools to protect unhoused individuals from the violation of their fundamental civil and human rights, including protections from—
(1) law enforcement against undue surveillance, mistreatment, harassment, destruction of personal property, vehicle impoundment, and unjustified detention, searches, ticketing, and arrests; and
(2) private businesses, property owners, including business improvement districts, and housed residents against discrimination, harassment, mistreatment, assault, detention, banishment, and destruction of private property.
In other words, cops cannot touch them, and private citizens cannot do a damned thing about homeless on their property. Homeless camping out in your backyard, pooping all over, leaving their stuff, doing drugs? Tough shit.
In fairness, this is not new, she introduced it awhile ago, but, she’s pimping it again. It has 31 cosponsors, all the typical crazies. And many of those represent cities with terrible homeless issues. There needs to be some sort of solution. There have always been homeless, and they have not always been treated well. Some definitely deserve a hand up, like homeless veterans. Some are just crazy, some are criminals, and some are serious druggies.

Californication
AB109 and Prop 47 have had a disastrous impact on our communities.  These laws have significantly diminished the ability of local prosecutors to hold repeat offenders accountable for their criminal behavior.  Unfortunately, the Bethell case is not an exception or an outlier but all too common. The justice system has become a revolving door for thieves . . . They can count on being releas[ed] early from their . . . sentences if there is any punishment at all. This is untenable situation has left us unable to deter this rampant criminality and lawlessness.
Because of prison overcrowding and court rulings, AB109 sought to reduce the state prison population by sending nonviolent felony offenders back to their home counties for incarceration and supervision (in local state prison). Local county jails are squeezed between AB109 mandates and federal court orders on the local jail population. Hence, inmates receive early release. Local jails are not intended for long-term inmates but hold pretrial offenders and those serving less than one-year sentences.  Increased caseloads slam local county probation offices. AB109 failed to address serial offenders like Bethell, who are released early or not detained at all. Once released, they wreak havoc in the communities. There must be provisions to up the ante so serial offenders like Bethell are deterred or incarcerated. These serial offenders will quickly commit multiple crimes before being caught again and successfully prosecuted.
In the last 10 years, criminals have become increasingly more violent and brazen. What we are seeing in response to these very lax laws on crime, the push to decriminalize everything, the push to lessen the penalty for something or even take away the penalty for crime is basically emboldening criminals to do more. It's really horrifying for law enforcement and it is horrifying for the public that has to deal with it.

When Is a Hate Crime Not a Hate Crime?
(A hate crime is not a hate crime when the culprit hates who he is supposed to hate. It helps if he is the kind of guy our rulers love, like the moonbat who vandalized St. Louise Catholic Church in Bellevue, Washington):
“Transgender” suspect Maeve Nota, a man who claims to be a woman, attacked the church building on June 28, 2022, smashing the glass doors, destroying a statue of the Blessed Mother, and spray-painting profane messages such as “F*** Catholics,” “kid groomers,” “woman haters,” and “rot in your fake hell.” Damage was estimated to be $30,000.
(The “kid groomers” accusation coming from a transsexual in the age of drag queen story hours is an example of the jaw-droppingly hypocritical projection that typifies leftists.)
Thirty-one-year-old Nota also assaulted a church employee and resisted arrest, according to FOX News.
(But it was all justified, because the motive was that Nota did not agree with Roe v. Wade finally getting overturned. Consequently, Biden’s Department of Injustice charged him with a misdemeanor and recommended no jail, 3-year probation.
The concept of “hate crimes” is useful because it is subjective enough to allow authorities to crush people they don’t like while green-lighting violence against other people they don’t like.)
The DOJ website indicates: “At the federal level, hate crime laws include crimes motivated by bias” against a victim’s perceived “race, color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, or disability.” Washington state has adopted all of these categories under its own hate crime laws as well.
(But since hate crime is thought crime, this only applies when the liberal ruling class does not approve of the imputed thoughts. By “religion,” they mean Islam. They sure don’t mean Catholicism.)
