Rob Reiner (“King Meathead”) Attacks Politically Active Christians: You Are ‘Antithetical to the Teachings of Jesus’
Hollywood Biden cheerleader Rob Reiner is once again pushing the left’s “Christian nationalism” boogeyman, saying conservative Christians who are politically active are “antithetical to the teachings of Jesus.”
Rob Reiner — who remains one of President Joe Biden’s biggest Hollywood fundraisers — spoke to Newsweek to promote the upcoming documentary God & Country, which Reiner produced.
“This movement that they have here seems completely antithetical to the teachings of Jesus,” Reiner said.
“Jesus was about peace and love and helping thy neighbor and those less fortunate than ourselves. And I thought that was something that we should all aspire to. So to me this movement is going totally opposite the teachings of Jesus.”
In his Newsweek interview, Reiner also blamed “Christian nationalism” for the January 6 riot on Capitol Hill.
“The Christian nationalist movement… it says that it’s my way or the highway and will resort to violence if we don’t get our way, which is what we saw happening on January 6,” he said.
“Christian nationalism” has quickly emerged as the left’s favorite new buzzword to scare its voter base into submission, with Democrat strategists and influencers trying to make it ubiquitous on the airwaves and social media.
The term refers to conservative Christians who are politically active and are organized around key issues, like abortion and support for former President Donald Trump.
Democrats have stepped up their “Christian nationalism” hysteria in recent months as young, anti-Israel progressives grow increasingly alienated from the Biden administration over the war between Israel and Hamas.
To reverse Biden’s cratering numbers, party leaders are attempting to create a common enemy — “Christian nationalists” — that will galvanize the left’s base come November.
God & Country, which opens in cinemas this week, is intended to be the latest prong in the left’s “Christian nationalism” messaging campaign.
But Reiner’s movie is already being questioned for playing unfairly.
As Breitbart News reported*, a man featured prominently in the movie’s trailer is not a Christian Nationalist and has no idea what one is.
Jon Tigges said, “I don’t know what Christian Nationalism is,” adding he has no idea why he is in the trailer.

On This Date In History
On January 13, 1128, Pope Honorius II grants a papal sanction to the military order known as the Knights Templar, declaring it to be an army of God.
Led by the Frenchman Hughes de Payens, the Knights Templar organization was founded in 1118. Its self-imposed mission was to protect Christian pilgrims on their way to and from the Holy Land during the Crusades, the series of military expeditions aimed at defeating Muslims in Palestine. For a while, the Templars had only nine members, mostly due to their rigid rules. In addition to having noble birth, the knights were required to take strict vows of poverty, obedience and chastity. In 1127, new promotional efforts convinced many more noblemen to join the order, gradually increasing its size and influence.
By the time the Crusades ended unsuccessfully in the early 14th century, the order had grown extremely wealthy, provoking the jealousy of both religious and secular powers. In 1307, King Philip IV of France and Pope Clement V combined to take down the Knights Templar, arresting the grand master, Jacques de Molay, on charges of heresy, sacrilege and Satanism. Under torture, Molay and other leading Templars confessed and were eventually burned at the stake. Clement dissolved the Templars in 1312.
The modern-day Catholic Church has admitted that the persecution of the Knights Templar was unjustified and claimed that Pope Clement was pressured by secular rulers to dissolve the order.
The Left Just Can't Leave Chick-fil-A Alone.
What is about Chick-fil-A that absolutely drives so many on the Left to push for its destruction via periodic spasms of boycotts (that typically fail) or imposing abusive government regulations like that proposed by New York State Assemblyman Tony Simone?
Simone is a freshman member of the Empire State's legislature, representing a district that encompasses "Chelsea, Hell’s Kitchen, Midtown and part of the Lincoln Center area in Manhattan," according to his official website.
For whatever reason, Simone became deeply concerned about the fact that some Sunday travelers on the New York Thruway (NYTW) might not be able to get their lunch or dinner at one of the Chick-fil-As operating Monday through Saturday at six state-managed rest stops.
"It’s Sunday, Christmas Eve … thousands of New Yorkers are traveling to their families to find restaurants at rest areas across the state. The Thruways are meant to serve New York travelers first. I think it’s ridiculous that you’re able to close on Sunday, one of the busiest travel days of the week," Simone told a local New York media outlet.
"You know, we get hungry when we’re traveling. We may not like our brother-in-law or sister-in-law’s cooking and wanna get a snack on Christmas Eve," the Democrat Assemblyman noted. "To find one of the restaurants closed on the Thruway is just not in the public good."
So Simone's bill commands Chick-fil-A to violate its own well-known practice of not opening its stores on Sundays so that employees are free to worship or not, as they choose, to spend time with their families, and get some well-deserved rest.
Christian Wedding Photographer Who Declined to Celebrate Same-Sex Marriage Wins Huge Legal Victory.
Virginia state officials agreed to settle a lawsuit with a Christian wedding photographer after he refused to use his business to celebrate same-sex marriage, according to a press release.
Bob Updegrove (pictured above) filed a lawsuit against Attorney General Jason Miyares and Christine Lambrou Johnson, the director of the state’s Office of Civil Rights, in September 2020 after a state law required him to affirm same-sex marriage in his photography business, according to court documents. Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), the law firm representing Updegrove, announced Monday that the state had agreed to settle following the recent Supreme Court decision in 303 Creative LLC v. Elenis, which determined that the government cannot compel a business owner’s speech, according to a press release.
“Free speech is for everyone. As the Supreme Court recently affirmed in 303 Creative, the government can’t force Americans to say things they don’t believe,” Johannes Widmalm-Delphonse, counsel for ADF, said in the press release. “This victory for Bob underscores how the 303 Creative decision will protect countless Americans from government censorship and coercion. The U.S. Constitution protects his freedom to express his views as he continues to serve clients of all backgrounds and beliefs.”
The Virginia Values Act prohibits businesses from discriminating based on sexual orientation and Updegrove argued in the lawsuit that the law aims to “regulate Bob’s views—that marriage should be between a man and a woman—out of existence.” He claimed that under the law he would be unable to publicly state anywhere on his website or business social media that he believes marriage is between a man and a woman, ultimately violating his right to freedom of expression under the First Amendment.
A district court ruled in March 2021 that while the case “creates ‘the odor of a case or controversy’ … the scent is not strong enough” for the court to rule in its favor, according to the opinion, forcing Updegrove to appeal. However, the Supreme Court ruled in June 2023 that the state of Colorado could not force Lorie Smith, a Christian web designer, to make websites celebrating same-sex marriage and chill her right to free speech.
As a result, the state agreed to settle to “avoid further costs and expenses of litigation,” according to the court documents.
“We commend Attorney General Miyares and his office for agreeing that state officials cannot punish Bob for exercising his First Amendment rights,” Widmalm-Delphonse said in the press release.
Jen Psaki Mocks Mike Johnson’s Christian Faith.
Former White House Press Secretary and current MSNBC host Jen Psaki slammed new House Speaker Mike Johnson for his evangelical Christianity, saying his political ideology should “scare us.”
Speaking to Fox News, Johnson had said, “I am a Bible-believing Christian. Someone asked me today in the media; they said, ‘It’s curious; people are curious. What does Mike Johnson think about any issue under the sun?’ I said, ‘Well, go pick up a Bible off your shelf and read it.’ That’s my worldview.”
In his first speech as House Speaker, Johnson stated:
I believe that scripture, the Bible, is very clear that God is the one that raises up those in authority. He raised up each of you. All of us. And I believe that God has allowed and ordained each and every one of us to be here at this specific moment. This is my belief. I believe that each one of us has a huge responsibility today to use the gifts God has given us to serve the extraordinary people of this great nation, and they deserve it.
“You heard that right,” Psaki quavered on MSNBC. “The Bible doesn’t just inform his worldview, it is his worldview. In fact, during his first speech in his new job, Johnson suggested that his election as speaker was an act of God. Talk about a bit of a ‘humblebrag’ there. So what exactly has God apparently called on Mike Johnson to do? Well, his views on policy are essentially what you’d expect from a religious fundamentalist. They’re more divisive than they are divine.
“But it’s not just his political ideology that should scare us,” Psaki wrote on the MSNBC website. “Johnson is basically a Christian fundamentalist. He believes that America is a Christian nation, and that those values should be reflected in our interpretation of the Constitution.”
“His ideas of what America should be are completely out of line with what America actually is,” she insisted.
Johnson’s Christian faith was forged at the age of 12, in September 1984. He was the oldest child of firefighter James “Pat” Johnson, who went into a warehouse to cap a leak. An explosion left Pat Johnson with burns over 80% of his body and he was given a 10% chance to live. His recovery after six operations and numerous infections inspired his son, who recalled in 2015, “I saw an actual miracle of my father surviving when they said that he shouldn’t. It made me a person of very deep faith.”
“His personal commitment to Jesus Christ is at the core of who he is and the foundation of the work he does,” Gene Mills, the president of Louisiana Family Forum, the state’s top faith-based conservative group, stated of Johnson.
