The first group of immigrant detainees has arrived at a new detention center in the Florida Everglades dubbed "Alligator Alcatraz," amid U.S. President Donald Trump's mass deportation efforts against illicit immigrants, local media reported Thursday.
"Detainees began arriving last night," Tricia McLaughlin, an assistant secretary at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, said in a statement, as cited by Columbia Broadcasting Corporation.
"We are working at turbo speed on cost-effective and innovative ways to deliver on the American people's mandate for mass deportations of criminal illegal aliens. We will expand facilities and bed space in just days, thanks to our partnership with Florida," added McLaughlin.
The facility was built in just eight days. Featuring more than 200 security cameras, 28,000-plus feet of barbed wire and 400 security personnel, it will have a capacity of about 3,000 detainees when fully operational, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said.
Environmental groups have filed a lawsuit to halt construction of the new immigrant detention facility, arguing that Florida officials and the federal government have trampled over environmental regulations in their rush to build the facility, the New York Times has reported.
Human rights advocates and Native American tribes have also protested against the center, arguing that the facility endangers the delicate Everglades ecosystem, subjects detainees to harsh conditions due to extreme heat and mosquito infestations, and occupies land that holds sacred significance for the tribes.
Workers install a sign reading "Alligator Alcatraz" at the entrance to the new "Alligator Alcatraz" facility at Dade-Collier Training and Transition facility in Ochopee, Florida, U.S., July 3, 2025.
Make all the detainees wear Louis Reard"s bikini while there, that will relieve the heat stress and encourage them to take a dip in the 'glades... Friggen indians are bitching about it being a "sacred" place? Why wasn't it sacred back when they paved the runways and why didn't they ask for it back and have the concrete torn out to restore it back to their scared status? The local indian tribe got a nice kickback for worthless land they didn't give a shit about. Etm.
ReplyDeleteYou're absolutely right. Yeah, I'm sure the Miccosukee Indians were rewarded nicely to keep their "sacred" memories under wraps when they were negotiating for that plot of land back in the day. Now those indians are trying to get a second swipe of the SNAP card to shut up again. As far as the environmentalist are concerned, the concrete and all of the leveled or built up areas were already there. There is no real construction that would destroy or endanger the environment. So both of those groups can kiss my ass, Etm.
DeleteI don't think that the BP or the other employees stationed at the "concentration camp" lol, should be forced to suffer also by making them endure looking at some of the human filth wearing nothing but a bikini. It might be like forcing them to get the clot shot. I think they would call that cruel and inhumane.
DeleteMore, Harder.
ReplyDeleteWe're doing it as hard and as fast as we can in Florida. They already have two more locations that are being looked at for possible detention/deportation camps.
