Robert Redford Dead At 89

Yes, he was an irritating liberal and he was a radical environmentalist. He wouldn't have been one of my friends even if I were one of his economic equals ...BUT I’d be lying if I said “The Sting”, 1973, wasn’t one of my all time favorite movies.

  1. Yes, but you don't get the full effect of the ending unless you have previously seen Butch and Sundance.

    1. Well, I watched Butch and Sundance but you'd have to enlighten me as to the association between that movie and 'The Sting.'

    2. Butch and Sundance were both killed by the Federales at the end of BC&tSK. Gondorff and Hooker were both shot to death at the end of The Sting, and those of us who had seen BC&tSK said to ourselves, oh no, not again.

    3. I gotcha. Thanks. I never made the connection. I guess I'm always trying to avoid the political messaging in movies unless I'm watching a movie solely for that purpose.

  2. Yeah, it's really amazing that people whose main talent is looking pretty, pretending to be someone else, and reciting lines someone else wrote are not necessarily the most intelligent or sane people you might meet. That said, some of them are really pretty, really good at pretending, and can really recite their lines. Just don't bother to pay attention to them once they are off-camera.

We should go back to the days of the ancient Greeks and basically treat actors as prostitutes - nice show, baby, loved the play, how much for a private audience later tonight?

You know, I meant for the female actresses. Not Robert Redford. I don't play that way.

    1. Yeah, you give your nickel to the grinder and you expect the monkey to dance, but I don't want to hear the monkeys opinion on the price of bananas.

    2. Same way Karl, monkey dance, monkey sing, monkey act; then shut the hell up, I paid to be entertained, I was entertained, now go away.

  3. Meh. Another Hollywood Leftist useful idiot assumes room temperature. Excuse me while my Boston Terrier and I go out in the back yard and dance a jig of mourning.

    1. I would have gotten along with him okay if he had just kept his public acting public and his, should have been private, opinions private. I don't want to fund ANY left wing ideologies or anyone who preaches them. I don't celebrate his death, I have sympathy for his family, but I won't miss his political blathering.
