One of the biggest acts of Native American heritage, Redbone had a huge hit in 1974 with "Come and Get Your Love." They had quite a few songs that did fairly well but this was their only big hit that I know of. I really, really liked that song and I wasn’t until years later that I researched who sang the song. Not really a big fan of the rest of their music but you may be. There are music critics who will say that Redbone had a big influence in the Rock and Roll world. “The Vegas Brothers,” as they were first named, later called themselves “The Avantis,” and they became a support group for the Beach Boys. In 1969, they changed their name to “Redbone.”
Vegas co-wrote the Cindi Lauper hit “Girls Just Want To Have Fun.” Redbone is also in the Smithsonian Museum, the Native American Music Association Hall of Fame, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Lolly Vegas, (born Candido Albelando Vasquez-Vegas; October 2, 1939 – March 4, 2010), guitarist and lead vocalist for Redbone was born in 1939 in Coalinga, California. He has Yaqui, Shoshone and Mexican heritage.
