(Nobody has mentioned his 'status' in any article I've seen but if we are filing for extradition, I'm gonna 'assume' he's a Peruvian national and was here illegally before fleeing to Peru.)
Authorities are investigating the death of 33-year-old Sheylla Cabrera, a mother of three who was found deceased in the Angeles National Forest days after being reported missing in Los Angeles.
Initial reports from family members stated her husband, Jossimar Cabrera, claimed that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had detained her. However, the investigation took a significant turn when surveillance footage surfaced, showing Jossimar Cabrera dragging a large, wrapped object from their apartment complex in Lancaster. This object is believed to contain Sheylla Cabrera's body.
Further investigation revealed that Jossimar Cabrera, along with the couple's three young sons, subsequently fled to Peru. The children were located unharmed in Peru on August 16, 2025, and taken into protective custody by the Peruvian Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations.
The whereabouts of Jossimar Cabrera, however, remain unknown. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is working with the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office to file murder charges against Jossimar Cabrera and secure his return to the United States. The official cause of Sheylla Cabrera's death will be determined by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office.
