When I posted that Taylor Stanberry had won the Florida Python Challenge on a forum I post on, one of the commenters asked "When you get the python caught and bagged, what do you do with it?:
I've had rattlesnake, and it wasn't bad, so I'd be willing to give this a try . Reminds me of the people promoting the eating of invasive lionfish for your tacos .
Yeah, I've ate rattlesnake many times and I had python once. Couldn't tell the difference. In Florida the divers are trying to get the sharks to start eating lionfish by spearing them and then giving them to the sharks that show up. Some of them gobble them up, which really surprises me.
Boots, people, BOOTS. Python skin boots. I remember paying something like $500 for a set back in the 1980's. That was real money back then. Woo-wee, was I looking sharp in those!! I think ZZ Top wrote a song about it.
I've eaten all sorts of stuff, but not snake. I'd be willing to try it, can't be much different from frog legs or alligator tail. But yeah, the skin has to be more valuable.
BOOTS! I've never worn snazzy cowboy boots, but you're right. It's high fashion and big money. I've always worn plain cowboy boots and I prefer the square toed ones, they don't seem to be popular with the usual boot crew. They also use the skin on hat bands and purses. After the state has python round-ups, they make all kinds of things out of the skins and sell them for different purposes. I think snake is real close to the taste of alligator.

I don't eat reptiles.
ReplyDeleteWell you're only going to go hungry at the big python round-up and barbecue ...
DeleteOnly if that blond from the last post prepares and serves it up in a flimsy peek-a-boo negligee...
ReplyDeleteAnd then you won't have to eat the python ... I know you want to snack on the blonde in the peek-a-boo ... right ... ?
