“May It Please The Court.”
In 1983, Judge David Demers, 6th Judicial Circuit, in Pinellas County was presiding over a trial of three exotic dancers charged with violating Pinellas’ anti-nudity ordinance which prohibits nudity in places where food and drinks are served to protect health, public order, and community morality.
Demers was only four months in office at the time.
During the trial, a 20 year old dancer bent over in front of the bench to show the judge that her outfit did not expose her genitalia.
The exotic dancers said that their panties were too big to show what the undercover officers said they saw. The judge sided with the dancers after she bent over and the case was dismissed.
The photo of the event was republished around the country, including Playboy’s “The Year In Sex.”
