That Could Also Be Any Waterhole, River, Or Beach, In Florida

And here in certain parts of Florida you could meet either alligators or crocodiles ... yes, we have both. In abundance.

  1. Don't forget rattlesnakes, water moccasins, stingrays, jellyfish, sharks, spiders, wasps, fire ants, mosquitos big enough to carry you off, and of course the Vibrio bacteria crap we got in the hot months. Also snapping turtles big enough to take hands and feet off (I have no clue how people noodling for catfish don't loose body parts to turtles). Any body of water is potentially deadly. And that's Texas.

    1. The same variety of critters and bacteria's rule here in Florida.
And ain't it weird that the one we tend to worry about the most are those freakin' fire ants. When I'm in the water, I'm always aware that there are things that can put a hurting on you and I stay alert. But when you're having a conversation with someone in the yard and you shouldn't have to be on guard, those damn fire ants ... one of them will whistle when a million of them have taken position all up and down your legs and they all freak at the same time. I have taken my pants off outside at a Baptist church dinner on the grounds one time because of those bastards. Thankfully, I was wearing boxers and I was only 14.
