Mohamed Bailor Jalloh, 36, stormed into a classroom inside ODU’s Constant Hall and asked if it was an ROTC class. When someone confirmed that it was, he opened fire, shooting the professor several times, law enforcement sources said.
A heroic ROTC student jumped into action before more damage was done, stabbing Jalloh to death after the crazed suspect gunned down the class instructor, the sources said.
One ODU student confirmed Jalloh was a student at the university, and identified the alleged shooter as being Muslim.
Jalloh, who apparently once served in the Army National Guard, had previously been convicted in federal court for "attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), a designated foreign terrorist organization." He told federal officials in 2016 that he had fantasies about carrying out an attack styled on the 2009 Ft. Hood terror attack that resulted in 13 deaths.
If the last name "Jalloh" sounds familiar to you, that's because Abdul Jalloh, an illegal also from Sierra Leone, was arrested last week and is suspected of stabbing to death 41-year-old mother Stephanie Minter at a bus shelter in Northern Virginia.
The matching surnames may just be a coincidence, but, either way, we have two Muslims from Sierra Leone committing violent acts on Americans in as many weeks. We've got a big, big problem here, folks.
