  4. I don't recognize that brand. I can "recommend" one called "Shit The Bed" which is useful at, say, three drops in about 2 quarts of chili. Also, "Da Bomb" which, at one drop per 6 quarts of stew, is still noticeable. Don't get any of this on your fingers lest you later touch your eyes or... Even after you wash it off. One bottle of either lasts for years. --Jimmy don\'t play that

    1. I don't use HOT sauce almost as a rule. Frank's, Tabasco, or Louisiana are as hot as I want. I prefer to not go hotter than cayenne

    3. Fred, I have tried chipotle flavored sauces and I don't find them to my liking. I can eat jalapenos in very small quantities but smoking them changes them too much.

    1. Tom, what a curious suggestion. I have two chiltepin plants. We have always referred to them as 'Bird's Eye' pepper. I love them for the plant alone. I have trained them to look like two small trees. They make a sharp looking plant. they also have a sentimental place, my grandmother had several of them growing outside of her kitchen. My plants came from there. I don't remember her ever cooking anything with heat. She was an old school country cook and she could make anything taste good.
      I DO NOT use them in any recipes.

  6. Karl, if you have them, do at least harvest the fruit for others. I find the chiletepin to be more flavorful than other Chiles, irrespective of the heat. 1 or 2 berries vs the can of green chile, for example, same heat but the taste!

    For flavor you can try anchos or guaillios, makes it smoky and mild but plenty of flavor.

    1. I've had many plants during the past ~20 years I've had them and I've probably given away 20 or 30 young plants. Most of the people I know think the Birds Eye is too hot for them, as I do.
