Kissing The Wife's Ass Today

The wife has today and Monday off because she works at a bank. We're going to take this opportunity to go shopping for a replacement easy chair for her. The one she has is dying a slow death because of a broken spring. It still does what it's supposed to do but there is wood against wood sounds and opening the foot rest is a pain in the ass. She has earned the right to take life easy when she's off so a new chair is in order ... (and I can claim beaucoup Valentine Day points for this because I insisted on a new chair and tomorrow is you know what.)

Today these chairs are stupid expensive. The ones we're looking at are between $800 and $1,100. For a CHAIR. That's crazy, but like I said, she deserves to have a chair that is very comfortable. She has been known to take naps in her chair so it needs to be that comfortable.

So, I will be out shopping for a while. You guys have a great day.

    3. We found what she called the perfect easy chair. We only got one ... they ain't cheap and my chair already has the worn spots in the right places. The one we got her is electric with heat. The first time I ever heard of a chair with a lifetime warranty on everything but fire and flood. All mechanical and electric parts covered. It is made by Flexsteel ... never heard of them either. They're delivering it Monday.

It's expensive but quality lasts longer than regret.

    1. Yes Sir. And she is in love with the apparent quality of the chair and she's never been high maintenance so it's worth it to keep her comfortable.

  3. I have gotten mine from estate sales. Never very expensive for some reason. Don't work for 'em, but LazyBoy's have a lifetime warranty on parts. If something breaks or wears out they'll replace it. Except the upholstery. At least I hope they still do, last time was over 10yrs ago.

    1. The place we went didn't have Lazyboy but they did have a very good looking, comfortable chair. Flexsteel, lifetime warranty on mechanical and electrical and it looks and feels well built.

  4. I did that yesterday, she was off so I did breakfast, lunch & dinner for her. She works all weekend so I spent the morning in the record store, then the seafood store for shrimp & the beer store. Gonna be a good weekend.

    1. Cheers Birdchaser, good man. If you've got a good girl, it never hurts to let her know you feel that way.
We don't usually do a real breakfast. She loves pink grapefruit and I got 3 of them and sectioned and then peeled each section. I've gotten real good at it over the years. I've always loved grapefruit that way and my wife considers it ultimate pampering. While we were out shopping in a bigger city, she said we should go ahead and do Valentines Day dinner early before the crowds started. So I've got an awesome start on points. And like I've said before, you can trade those points in for .... stuff.

    2. Yer a good husband Karl! The attached video shows how I section grapefruits and oranges when needed. Not the best video but short and to the point. I scrape the peels to get any residual flesh and squeeze the membrane to get all of the juice. Works well for me and faster than peeling each section.

How many points does it take for you to get “stuff”? Asking for a friend 😁. Just joking with you.

    3. Sandy, that is definitely faster than my method but I've done it my way for so long that I've become seriously fast at it and I don't waste any of the juice. I peel the grapefruit by hand and split it in half. Then I use a small serrated knife and open each section at the narrow edge and peel the skins back and most of the time I get an almost perfect section. When my wife and I first got together and I peeled grapefruit for for her, it impressed her more than anything else I did for her ... maybe not a good story to tell, huh? Hahaha.
In the beginning, I could trade small amounts of points for some serious smooches. Now, as I get older and uglier, it takes quite a few more points to get the same deal. Inflation and getting decrepit has taken their toll on the point system.

  5. Stressless by Ekornes. Trust me on this. You will never find a finer recliner at a higher price. The ergonomic design everybody else copies. We bought two of 'em (they are sized for specific heights so get the right size) 20 years ago. Still like new. The ONLY chair either of us could sleep in after major surgery (beds didn't come close). Pricey as hell, around 4K for the classic Reno. Only sold thru their dealers. The one drawback is that they are "Scandinavian" design style and a total mismatch with any other furniture.

    1. Wow, your budget much be in better shape than ours. We got a great chair, that my wife seems extremely satisfied with. She spent almost 2 hours picking it out. Flexsteel is the manufacturer, don't remember the model name, with a lifetime warranty. They had an awesome selection. I think she'll be happy with this one.
      Seriously appreciate the input sir.

    2. Just for comparison, we paid $1800 for the chair, delivery and removal of the double recliner loveseat we have now.
