Classic movies resonate because they reflect what we understand in our guts to be true. Silence of the Lambs featured Buffalo Bill, a transgender serial killer who skinned women so he could wear their skin.
Driven by the liberal establishment’s promotion of LGBTism, the rapidly expanding Transsexual Violence Hall of Horrors has confirmed the movie’s underlying insight. Yet now Hollyweird apologizes for it.

Silence of the Lambs surprised the industry as an Oscar-winning, generation-defining smash. But over the years, the characterization of Buffalo Bill (whose sexual orientation is not explicitly stated) has been viewed as gender nonconforming and identifying as trans. For his part, Ted Levine — having played the character who is also known as Jame Gumb — has conflicting feelings about the movie, despite its success. …
Levine did not have concerns while making the movie but has developed a fuller understanding of the trans experience in the ensuing decades. “[It’s] just over time and having gotten aware and worked with trans folks, and understanding a bit more about the culture and the reality of the meaning of gender,” says the actor… “It’s unfortunate that the film vilified that, and it’s f[*]cking wrong.”
They never should have cast Buffalo Bill in a bad light. Transphobia is thoughtcrime. It is “f*cking wrong.”
Silence of the Lambs came out 35 years ago this month.
It became the year’s fifth-highest-grossing title, collecting $272 million globally ($659 million today), and was just the third feature in history to win the “big five” Oscars: best picture, director, actor, actress and screenplay.
But you couldn’t make Silence of the Lambs today. It rings too true.

DeleteIn the book, it was theorized by Hannibal Lector that the killer was not trans, only pretending to be trans. Or whatever. But hey, we all know a weirdo when we see one. And why can't an actor simply say "hey, it's a character in a movie. I just read the lines, nothing more." No need to apologize for something 35 years ago.
ReplyDeleteAlso, the whole genre of literature on serial killers always makes them out to be some sort of secret genius level killers when in most cases they are as stupid as a bag of rocks. The ones who kill for years are just a combination of lucky, too unimportant to matter, and pick victims no one will ever miss. The "Hannibal Lecter" type killer just doesn't really exist.
Yes sir, why can't an actor/ess just say "Hey, I played a character. They paid me to read the lines and act it out convincingly. I did my job. The end. Period."
DeleteAnd the longer this stupidity lasts, the more I have been convinced that most of these 'trannies' are just attention whores ... BUT ... Greg Gutfeld introduced a term a while back that I think fits Buffalo Bill and a lot of these fake 'trannies.'
Autogynephilia is defined as a male's propensity to be sexually aroused by the thought of himself as a female. It is the paraphilia that is theorized to underlie transvestism and some forms of male-to-female transsexualism.

Ted Bundy may be an exception to your beliefs about serial killers. He was supposedly very smart, just not smart enough to understand that he shouldn't have represented himself in court.
DeleteThat was ego on Ted Bundy's part, he was in the genius level of intelligence and that was his undoing.
DeleteAgreed, his ego was his undoing in the end. But it was the reason he scored as many victims as he did ... well, ego and arrogance.
DeleteBundy was an exception, but the few things I've seen on him makes me think he wasn't as smart as he thought he was. He was all ego, true, but I wouldn't call him genius level smart.

DeleteGender dysphoria is a form of insanity. We used to lock up insane people. Now we don't. We allow them to wander the streets committing all manner of crimes...including murder. No sane society would tolerate this.
