History has proven the US to be a feckless ally. We're always one election away from cancelling checks and pulling out, leaving whomever was stupid enough to trust us with nothing more than a sack of shit and a bunch of pissed off enemies. Sorry, but the Iranians need to fix their own mess by themselves. Not our monkeys, not our circus, we should do the grown up thing and just leave it alone. Our record with foreign interference is quite dismal. I feel for them, I really do, but if they think getting the US involved is going to fix anything, they are just being stupid. Fight your own battles. We got enough problems at home.
ReplyDeleteTrump needs to focus on the corruption at home first and foremost. Every day. Keep it in the news. Run all the Somalis out of the country and pin the blame on Dems for bringing them over in the first place. Fix the corruption and the Dem party will collapse. That's the only battle I want to see right now.

DeleteThe redeeming grace is that Trump seems to be able to multitask like no other top politician ever before. I'm hoping that just a very little interference from us will give the Iranian/Persian people the break they need.
I'm open to other opinions, and mostly we're on the same page, but whenever we start talking foreign entanglements I overlay the helicopter evacs from the embassy during the fall of Saigon with the 13 dead soldiers at Kabul airport during the Afghanistan withdrawal. We just don't have a good track record. As long as Trump sticks to tariffs and tough talk I'm ok. If he starts sending military aid I'm going just shake my head.
DeleteExcuse my smartassery BUT I don't believe Trump was in charge during Saigon or the Afghanistan fiasco. The last foreign entanglement Trump was in charge of (Maduro) was an overwhelming success. Sometimes you just need the right people.
