Everybody on the internet claimed this was something they saw and took photos of back in 2012. The best guess I can take from the dates and what I think is authentic, this happened just outside Harrison, GA. I live in an area of Florida where wildlife is plentiful and almost everyone I know has hit a pig, deer, turkey, buzzard or something at one time or another. This guy was lucky that turkey didn't come through the windshield. Depending on how fast you're going and how flat your windshield is, makes the difference with smaller animals.

Driving a big truck in Tennessee, I almost had that happen. It went between the cab corner and the mirror and broke off the antenna in between.
ReplyDeleteThe worst thing I've ever hit, and I've hit quite a few living in the woods like I do, was a hog. A big black hog at night. It probably would have done some severe damage in a normal truck but at the time I was driving a small Mazda pickup. At that time, ~1976, all the cool guys would put much larger tires on the back of the truck, jacking it up, and leave normal tires on the front. What this does is shine the headlights on the road about 20 feet in front of the truck. You can't see anything with the headlights until you're on top of it. The impact drove the engine/transmission up into the cab barely missing me. Truck was totaled.
DeleteLiving in LA(Lower Alabama) I believe it! Too many times I hit buzzards on the side of the road where at the last possible second those pea brained birds would take flight slowly in front of my truck and it would glance off and leave only a small dent. I was lucky they didn't hit the windshield! They do sure stink to high heaven when hit... also why I put a grill guard on the front of my truck and my wife's, damn white tails.
