Homan: HSI Investigator Says There’s ‘No Doubt’ Ilhan Omar Committed Immigration Fraud

Border Czar Tom Homan confirmed Tuesday that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is investigating allegations that Rep. Ilhan Omar’ (D-Minn.) married her brother, presumably to help him obtain US citizenship through the fraudulent marriage.
“We’re pulling the records, we’re pulling the files! We’re looking at it,” Homan told Newsmax host Rob Schmitt. “I’m running that down this week.”
The allegations were reported by Minnesota-based investigative journalist David Steinberg in PJ Media in 2018.
As the story goes,  about 35 years ago, eight-year-old Ilhan and her family fled war-torn Somalia to Kenya’s Dadaab refugee camps, where she lived from 1991 until 1995.
Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services then helped 12-year-old Ilhan, her sister Sahra, and their father Nur Said receive asylum in the United States along with thousands of other Somalis.
Omar has been under scrutiny for actions she took beginning in 2009, when she was a 26-year-old U.S. citizen, that “appear to give probable cause to investigate Omar for eight instances of perjury, immigration fraud, marriage fraud, up to eight years of state and federal tax fraud, two years of federal student loan fraud, and even bigamy, according to Powerline’s Scott Johnson.
Homan said a top fraud investigator with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) told him there is “no doubt” immigration fraud was committed in Omar’s case, but the statute of limitations “became an issue in the last four years.”
During a Cabinet meeting at the White House on December 2, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said 50 percent of Somali visas in Minnesota are fraudulent, which means Governor Tim Walz (D-Minn.) “is either an idiot or he did it on purpose.”
Homan told Schmitt DHS is now investigating immigration fraud in Minnesota, focusing on criminals and national security threats who weren’t properly vetted.
“We’re gonna look at all of them,” he said. “Those here illegally or here under a visa under some sort of immigration process.”
The Border Czar said President Trump has requested a “deep dive” into the problematic Somali immigration situation in Minnesota.
“We’re going to hold people accountable,” he promised. “There are going to be multiple deportations coming.”
