Sure is ugly. I prefer mine in the natural state I got it.
ReplyDeleteUgly is a word I wouldn't use for this car. Not the colors I would paint it but it ain't hard to look at, imo.
DeleteThat aint ugly, its fast!
ReplyDeleteVery fast. And not ugly at all, imo.
DeleteNot that I could afford it, nor do I have a place to park it, but iffin I was to get a 55, I'd want to have it as a daily driver. Just a regular small block V8, bench seats, and mostly stock. I'd throw in some aftermarket disk brakes on the front, that's just a common sense safety thing. Oh, and decent paint choices. I'm thinking the red and white 2-tone. That there looks to be a temperamental beast - fast as hell but how long will it last idling in heavy traffic?
ReplyDeleteYeah I'm pretty sure that car was never designed to be a daily driver. That's the kind of car you build if you have much more money than I have to play with and if you have other vehicle(s) you can ride. Show car that spends more time on a trailer than the asphalt.
DeleteAnd if I could spend the money, mine would be a '57 and it would be charcoal gray and black. A few modifications like you said.
Yup, as a kid, I got all the various Hot Rod type magazines and lusted after all the highly modified cars as only a young kid could (this was before discovering girly mags!!). Me and my friends would talk about how we'd get cars like that when we're older and drive them daily, not the boring shit our parents drove. It wasn't until I was much older that I realized, like you said, those cars spend more time on trailers than on asphalt. Show cars only, not drivers.
DeleteNow as an old man, I'm much more interested in keeping it close to stock and highly reliable. Right now, a bone stock mid-70's Ford truck with the straight 6 and a manual transmission would be a dream car to have for me. So yup, boring to the younguns. Life is a fucking circle. With an attitude.
Me and you think alike on the classic car/truck issue. I'd love to have a boring '57 Chevy Bel Air.
