Original Mission Impossible - 1966 - 1973

A while back I was having trouble with RLS (Restless Leg Syndrome) and I spent several hours just roaming around on the internet. I wrote a post about one of our favorite shows growing up, Hawaii Five-0, not the new Five-0, the original Five-0. The post was mostly about the theme music and video opening.

So last night I was having trouble again with my legs and just happened to come across the old textedit notes and was reminded of another show we watched back in the day that was well worth watching. There is so little on TV these days that rises above boring and most of it is just time-wasting shit.

The original "Mission Impossible" was a good show. Our whole family would get together and watch it. Loved it. I really didn't care for the lead actor in the first year. I thought Peter Graves did a much better job portraying Jim Phelps.

"Mission: Impossible" was a huge success when it aired, winning 10 Emmys throughout its seven-season run and producing 171 episodes.

Greg Morris - Barney Collier
Peter Lupus - Willie Armitage
Peter Graves - Jim Phelps
Barbara Bain - Cinnamon Carter
Martin Landau - Rollin Hand

Opening and Closing Theme (Original theme music written and composed by Argentine composer Lalo Schifrin)

"As always, should you or any of your IM force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions"

  2. I enjoyed watching, a show that, yes, it did stretch your imagination and wonder was a show that did not insult your intelligence or credibility. I can't say that for 97% of the shows over the years.

    1. Agreed. It wasn't full of crap that you were thinking the whole time, 'this couldn't happen.'

  3. In the first season, the team is led by Dan Briggs (played by Steven Hill) who most famously played the jerk of a DA Adam Schiff of "Law and Order.

    1. There it is. I knew there was a reason I never liked him on MI. I was right.
