Jimmy Kimmel Live! Returns To Air Tuesday On Disney

Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show is returning to the air this week, Walt Disney Company said on Sept. 22.
“Last Wednesday, we made the decision to suspend production on the show to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country,” the company said in a statement to news outlets. “It is a decision we made because we felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive. We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday.”
A Disney spokeswoman did not immediately return a request for comment.
Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr said after Kimmel’s show was suspended that Kimmel’s comments were “not a joke” and appeared to mislead Americans about a fact relating to the shooting.
Broadcast networks have a license that requires them to operate in the public interest, Carr has said.
At least two companies that own local television stations had said they would not broadcast Kimmel’s show, at least for a period of time, in light of his comments. Sinclair Broadcast Group, which owns dozens of ABC affiliates, said it would not air the show “until we are confident that appropriate steps have been taken to uphold the standards expected of a national broadcast platform.”

(I was under the impression that an apology would have to be made and that Kimmel was supposed to make a worthy donation to TPUSA. There was one other requirement but I can’t remember what it was. I guess those requirements were thrown out.)

  1. And what do Disney share holders think about it?

    1. I don't think Disney or anyone connected with the decision making care what they think.

  2. Individual shareholder likely care, but with over 30% of the shares belonging to 10 companies that have leftist views Disney won't care.

  3. OMG! Now he will be a "living" martyr for the left!

    1. But his contract is over in 2026 and I think that will be the end of his pseudo-martyrship. But personally I don't think he was out long enough for even the left to really consider him a martyr.
