For the millions of Americans trapped in these collapsing blue-run hellscapes, where small, medium, and large businesses are fleeing, violent crime is soaring, and the mentally ill wander the streets untreated, this is more than just an EO. It’s relief.
This new EO will basically override the disastrous laws from the 1960s that led to the closure of mental institutions and will finally allow states to “involuntarily” reinstitutionalize individuals who are clearly a danger to themselves or others. In a nutshell: we’re bringing back common sense and giving communities the legal tools they need to clean up the streets and get people real help.
For decades, soft-on-crime Democrats and radical decarceration activists have treated mental illness and drug addiction like some kind of civil rights issue instead of a public safety emergency.
