A West Sussex fire station in 2021, has shared a horrific X-ray image in an attempt to discourage passengers from putting their feet on the dashboard.
Ahead of the weekend heatwave in Sussex, Storrington Fire Station urged those taking summer trips to drive safely.
As tempting as it may be to lean back, put your feet back and enjoy the ride - you risk suffering fatal injuries.
The station shared an X-ray image showing the devastating injuries suffered by someone who had their feet on the dashboard during a crash.
Storrington Fire Station posted the image on Facebook, writing: “With the nice sunny weather don’t be tempted to put your feet up on the dashboard.
“If you have an accident your injuries could be life changing.”
The X-ray shows a broken left hip and femur as well as a completely dislocated right hip.

Another media site that shared the story added: “Air bags deploy between 100 and 220 mph. If you ride with your feet on the dash and you’re involved in an accident, the airbag may send your knees through your eye sockets.”
