1956 Chevrolet Nomad - Duramax Diesel-Powered
Nomad Maximus
Insane Duramax Diesel-Powered 1956 Chevy Nomad
Nomad Maximus: Nine-hundred lb-ft of trailer-towing, tire-roasting madness.
Owners J.P. Dwyer and his father, John.
Engine: LB7 Duramax, GM 6.6-liter V-8 with upgraded ball-bearing turbo that produces 700 horsepower and 900 lb-ft of torque.
Transmission: Allison LTC1000 Stage Three from ATS Diesel Performance. The transmission is a five-speed automatic with a 1,200-stall converter.
Rear: Ford 9-inch with a locker and 3.00:1 gears.
I love everything about this resto-mod except the lowering, I don't like the lowered look 99% of the time. Full disclosure: I am a member of the Mad About Nomads Club.

Great idea with putting a Duramax engine in it, I am with you about lowering or even jacking up a body, and I don't like the ghetto rims and tires they are putting on everything now a days.
ReplyDeleteI was pretty sure you would like this one too. The fact that it will probably snatch a trailer down the road without whimpering should appeal to you also.
