Hot Air Balloon Accident In Brazil

There's no way I would get my ass into a hot air balloon.

A hot air balloon accident in Brazil has claimed the lives of at least eight people.
Twenty-one people boarded the balloon on Saturday morning in the city of Praia Grande, according to the governor of Santa Catarina, Jorginho Mello.
“21 people on board – 8 fatalities, 13 survivors,” Mello posted to X on Saturday. “Our teams continue to provide all necessary support to families and victims.”
“We are all shocked by the accident,” the governor said. “We continue to monitor the situation.”
Praia Grande is in southern Santa Catarina, which is a popular tourist destination, the BBC noted.
Video of the tragic accident was posted by an aviation news account, showing a fiery crash to the ground.
It’s unclear what caused the accident.

"According to the pilot, who is one of the survivors, a fire started inside the basket, so he started to lower the balloon, and when the balloon was very close to the ground he told people to jump," officer Tiago Luiz Lemos, from the Praia Grande police station, told reporters at the scene.

You can see at least one person who jumped or fell out. I'm sure that didn't enhance his survivability chance at all.

    1. If you figure it out let me know. I was thinking the same thing. That was quite a height they fell from ... on fire. The only thing I could figure was that maybe the bulky shape/size of the basket slowed it down just enough to make it survivable. Other than that, God or yuge luck.
