1981 Ford Fairmont Durango
This 1981 Ford Durango is one of an estimated 212 Fairmont Futura coupe-based two-door unibody pickups that were produced in a joint venture between Ford Motor Company and National Coach Products of Gardena, California. Powered by a 3.3-liter inline-six paired with a three-speed automatic transmission.
I didn't know those existed! I would have bought one! They are cool, if impractical.
ReplyDeleteI saw one many years ago and I thought it was a one-off custom job. Just found out recently that they made over 200 of 'em. I was dedicated to Chevy in those days and I owned a '69 El Camino SS and I thought I was tha shit but it wasn't a truck even if they wanted it to be and I wanted a truck. So I ended up trading it. I regret that badly now. It was a beautiful car.

ReplyDeleteFairmonts were a tough car. I got one as a courtesy car while Ford was repainting mine from a bad factory paint job and it could ride out.
DeleteAh, the good old days when car interiors were either powder blue or whore-house red. I also ended up with whore-house red in my rides.

I had a Ford Grenada with a red interior that was given to me for some money that was owed to me and that was the only recovery I was gonna get. I had a Ford friend of mine drop a 5.0 HO and a different transmission in it and it was truly a surprise sleeper. NO ONE had ever seen a Grenada haul ass.
