Over here the fuckwits go bananas when they see an adder on Dartmoor. (Vipera berus, also known as the common European adder) Adders are on Dartmoor all the 4king time, you idiots and bites are rare, very painful but rarely fatal.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, maybe because I've never encountered one, the 'adders' have always seemed like a truly dangerous snake. You have to understand that the fear is mostly from not knowing, mostly. Almost everyone who lives or has lived in rural America and been in the woods any length of time is usually knowledgeable about rattlesnakes and know if they are given room, the danger is almost nil.
