I Had To Replace A Tire Or Two Because Of This Device

  1. I'm going take a guess that the on device has the small black wheel ride on the bike tire, turning a small generator, which powers the two lights? Never had that myself, we just rode in the dark if we stayed out too late. No street lights on our little dead end neighborhood.

    1. Your guess is on the money. The difference where I grew up was there was no neighborhood. We lived in a very rural area and most of my bike riding was on dark sugar sand roads and sometimes the drunks would come on you mighty fast and you needed them to see you, lol. Also contrary to what most people think, especially in the south during the summer, snakes, including the rattlers, cottonmouths, and the copperheads all move around at night and you didn't want to run up on one in the dark unaware. I didn't use the light on the highway because no matter how dark it is, you can always make out the roadway and almost anything on it.

  2. That little generator still wore out the side walls awfully quick!

    1. My friend that I went camping with on the Suwannee River lived 35 miles from my house and I would ride my bike over there on Friday after school and ride it home again on Sunday evening, usually late. That little knobby wheel on the generator, the generator, and my tire would be so damn hot when I got home Sunday night, it surprised me that the tires lasted as long as they did. But being the one that had to buy the tires, at the time it seemed to me they didn't last long either.
