I Can Remember When We All Carried Our Weapons

In our pick-up’s to school, most of them on a rack in the back window and nobody ever shot up a school.
We never had Firearms Training in my school but most of us used firearms regularly for hunting or varmint shooting. We lived in a very rural community.

Poland is training their schoolchildren in firearms use using laser technology similar to what our military uses in their MILES System.

  1. Good for Poland! Same with me, I carried a rifle and shotgun in my station wagon to school. I know I wasn't a cool kid, I wanted a car I could go camping and sleeping in when I was away for the weekend hunting or fishing and I couldn't afford a pick up. It was a 65 Plymouth Sport Fury SW, I thought I was cool, my rear window was an electric operated...

    1. One of my friends, a really cool guy if you liked hunting, fishing, and just riding in the woods with a cold beer, had a '57 Chevy Nomad that his dad owned and handed him the keys when we were in 9th grade. We thought we were the two coolest guys in school ... and yes, he always had his rifle in that car.

  2. In middle school 6,7,8 grade, on Friday I carried a Remington 1100 on the bus to school with ammo, the principal kept it in his office & I walked home on the railroad tracks jump shooting anything that I could find. Still like hunting rabbits on the tracks.

    1. That's unusual. You were very lucky. I don't think you could carry a shotgun on most school buses in most places.
