Meet Danny Huynh, RC and animatronics genius, Blower Head and his Yutani Chainsaw Trike
Danny has mad engineering skills to be able to get all the details working together in this working RC model of a steampunk trike. Amazing detail. Call me impressed. (I was already impressed with all the details and then I saw the pistons pumping in Blower Head's chest ... damn.)
If you enjoy looking at RC models and are a fan of steampunk, we have just the thing for you. Danny Huynh, an Australian photographer, artist, and RC enthusiast, shows off one of the coolest-looking RCs ever in this YouTube video.
The artist’s YouTube channel is chock-full of videos showcasing his scratch-building RC expertise and boundless creativity. His detailed and stylized custom vehicles are the perfect combination of his signature style and engineering know-how, and they’ll undoubtedly entice you to binge-watch all of his videos.
This video features a mechanical trike with an animatronic android riding atop the rig, from workbench to street chase. It has a front drivetrain in the style of a chainsaw and wheels at the back for stability. Furthermore, it is fully operational!
In a 2015 interview with RC Car Action, he states that he builds his creations on the fly, with no drawings or plans, and that his style is influenced by anime, steampunk, science fiction, and hot-rodding.
Unfortunately, his creations are not for sale, as re-creating any of the vehicles in his portfolio would take “anywhere from maybe 40 hours to over 120 hours depending on the complexity,” since it’s a big challenge to get driver and navigator figures to work smoothly and hide all their servos.
