1902 - Kalamazoo, Michigan, mandolin maker Orville Gibson founds the Gibson Mandolin-Guitar Mfg. Co, Ltd. In 1936 it would create the first commercially successful electric guitar.




 

1964 - The Shangri-Las release "Leader Of The Pack."

1970 - Black Sabbath were at No. 1 on the UK chart with their second album 'Paranoid.' The album which contains some of the band's best-known signature songs, including the title track, 'Iron Man' and 'War Pigs' is now regarded as one of the classic Heavy Metal albums.

1987 - Whitesnake went to No. 1 on the US singles chart with 'Here I Go Again’.
