1969 - Creedence Clearwater Revival started a four-week run at No. 1 on the US album chart with 'Green River.' Also on this day 'Bad Moon Rising' was a US No. 2 hit.

1987 - The Grateful Dead hit No. 10 on the US Hot 100 with "Touch Of Grey," the only hit song for the band.
