On December 29, 1970, the world premier of 'Zaat" played at the Alimar Theater in Live Oak, FL. Actor Wade Popwell played the monster in the cage during the premier and in the movie. "Zaat" was filmed entirely in FL. The Alimar Theater opened in 1922 and was burned beyond repair in 1977. The only reason this has any relevance is because I spent part of my youth in Live Oak and watched several movies in that theater. We referred to it as the 'Roach Palace'. Of much more consequence to the older population of Live Oak was the burning of the 'Dixie Grill' a favorite dining location located next door to the Alimar. The Dixie Grill was rebuilt in a new location a block away. The Alimar was not.
