Patronis launches portal for Floridians to report discrimination by IRS operatives.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (FLV) – Florida Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis launched the “Florida IRS Transparency Portal” to allow Floridians an easy method to report “evidence of discrimination by Internal Revenue Service operatives.”
Patronis’ office said the purpose is to help Florida identify “patterns of discrimination” from the IRS, which may be targeting “certain political causes, practices, or beliefs.”
“We deployed the Florida IRS Transparency Portal where Floridians can submit complaints about individual IRS agents,” Patronis said. “We will take this information to look for patterns on how the IRS is targeting Floridians, which will help us craft laws to protect our businesses.”
The portal, housed by the chief financial officer’s website, asks respondents to include basic personal information, business information, and provides a text box for Floridians to explain their issues with the IRS.
Patronis’ announcement comes as he believes President Joe Biden’s administration is “supercharging the IRS” as deficit spending continues.
The chief financial officer said be believes “transparency is the best disinfectant.”
“If there’s an IRS agent who’s bullying a Florida resident, I want to know about it.”
In addition to the portal allowing the Florida government to assess patterns of discrimination from the IRS, Patronis announced his office will give reports to members of Congress “who help oversee the IRS.”
“With this information they’ll have better insight into how the IRS targets families and small businesses, so they’re more effective at reining an agency that Biden is hell-bent on leveraging as his own political operation,” he said.
“This information will be reported to Congressional committees who oversee the tax agency so further action can be taken to keep the IRS in check,” Patronis continued. “If you feel you have been targeted by the IRS, I encourage you to report it immediately to the Florida IRS Transparency Portal.”
Speaking at a roundtable Thursday, Patronis denounced the “weaponization of certain federal agencies against Americans” and warned against the IRS using “intimidation tactics because of their politics.”
The chief financial officer has been a long-time critic of the IRS, in 2022 demanding answers for “compromising taxpayer information” and slamming Democrats for potentially using new IRS agents to “target” Florida.
