As far as pastry treats go, you cannot beat fresh yeast doughnuts, preferably cooked in lard. The best doughnuts in driving distance from me, and it's a good drive are found at Johnson's Bakery in Perry, FL. They cannot be beat. (I LOVE their doughnuts and any favoritism shown towards their establishment was purely due to my love for their products, doughnuts, cookies, and soups, and I have not been compensated in ANY way.)
