A KLM Boeing 747 landing at Princess Juliana International Airport in St. Maarten, Maho Beach in the Caribbean. It's taken from a higher vantage point than the beach, and thus shows clearly just how very, very close the aircraft comes to the beach, the road, and the perimeter fence when landing, particularly its wheels.
There are many videos on YouTube showing people standing next to the fence at the end of the runway at the Princess Juliana International Airport on Maho Beach in St. Maarten trying to withstand the blast. One Australian woman several years ago was killed when she hit her head on the low concrete walls dividing the roadway lanes just outside the fence. The video link I have here is not that woman but another girl that got hurt by hitting her head on that same concrete wall.

ReplyDeleteAgreed. I love watching the military aircraft shows, not so much the commercial aircraft BUT I don't want to stand behind a F-15 during pre-take-off burns.
