I don't usually share or promote products, but this is one that might help and your wife may thank you for it.
Normally us husbands get tasked with opening those jars with tight lids but sometimes the wife needs to open one when you aren't available.
We've bought several openers for her over the last few years and I've never heard her say anything approaching praise about any one of them but this one. It didn't seem like a major difference but it really helps her. She has neuropathy brought on by cancer treatments and she says this thing makes a huge difference.
Just posting it here in case you can use a product like this, it has potential to be the one you'll use the most.
Have one of those, and it works! Almost no others do. I'm a broken-down old curmudgeon with two rebuilt rotator cuffs and an avulsed biceps. There was a time when I could get any top off, but no more. The only knock I have on this one is that it will screw up threads if you're opening something with a canning jar lid/ring combo. Otherwise, it's the best!

DeleteI'm glad you found it with your issues and I'm very happy to make life easier on my dishwasher too.
We don't do canning anymore, for about 3 years now so we aren't faced with that problem. I wonder if maybe placing paper towels or one of those thin rubber gripper openers on the lid first would alleviate that issue?
We amazoned two strap wrenches one big one small really makes life easier. I used to use 4 ft handle chain wrenches to hold big ugly stuff so I figured rubber belts should work
ReplyDeleteWe got one of those and my wife had issues with it so we kept looking. It still took more arm strength and with her neuropathy it just didn't work.

DeleteLooks like something that I could use, too. I have the same problem that your wife does and caused by the same thing. Now if only they made one to take the slides off my Berettas I'd be a happy man.
ReplyDeleteIf I see something for the Berettas, I'll give you a holler ... but I think you would really like this opener if you have any issues with the pain caused by neuropathy. I don't push products ... the only reason I posted it was because we were both impressed.
